Core Passive Eternal Seasons
When Qingyi lands a Finishing Strike on an enemy with her Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms, it applies 5 stacks of Subjugation to the enemy, stacking up to 20 times. Each stack of Subjugation increases the target's Stun DMG Multiplier by 2%. For each rush attack during Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms, the finishing strike will apply an extra stack of Subjugation.
If Perfect Dodge is triggered when using finishing strike, it directly applies 10 stacks of Subjugation. When applying Subjugation to normal or elite enemies, the applied stacks are doubled. When the target recovers from being Stunned, the corresponding stacks of Subjugation are reset.

Strong Daze output capable of stunning enemies in short order.
Satisfying combo playstyle that after some practice flows smoothly.
Multiple Damage Reductions, Anti-Interrupt buffs and Immunities throughout all of her combos.
Applies a completely Generic and tremendous Damage Amplification during the Stun window allowing burst DPS to reach new heights.
Can effortlessly slot into almost any team thanks to her flexible Additional Ability requirements.
Requires a massive amount of the team's field time outside of the Stun window.
Combos take a good chunk of time to fully execute, sometimes making combat encounters awkward.
May not always be able to fully unleash all 20 stacks of Subjugation on Boss enemies if they’re Stunned too fast or Qingyi can’t generate enough Voltage in time.
Qingyi is an Electric S-Rank Melee Stun Agent, with strong Combo attacks that overwhelm enemies with Daze and amplify Stun damage multipliers to next level. This unique combination makes Qingyi one of the top Support/Stun characters in the game, especially valuable for burst DPS aiming to maximize damage during the Stun window.
However, as a combo-based character, Qingyi requires significant field time to be played optimally. You can expect her to dominate the majority of the team's on-field time while the enemy is not Stunned.
Qingyi's kit revolves around building and spending her unique resource gauge, Flash Connect Voltage, or simply Voltage. All of Qingyi’s Electric damage attacks generate Voltage, which she can store up to 100 units. Voltage is essential for activating her empowered Basic Attack, Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms, which requires a minimum of 75 Voltage. This attack is important for maximizing Daze potential and applying her powerful Stun damage multiplier. Qingyi’s primary objective on the field is to build and spend Voltage as quickly and efficiently as possible. In order to learn how to do that, let’s take an in-depth look at her abilities.
Qingyi's Basic Attack sequence consists of four attacks and a charged Basic Attack, accessible by pressing and holding. Each of these attacks have multiple variants – some being must-use, while others being worthless.
The first two attacks deal Physical Damage. These are relatively weak compared to her later attacks and should be not used whenever possible - the reason being 3rd and 4th attack combo being superior in damage, able to generate Voltage, making it important that you try to minimize these attacks to only be used during any downtime.
The third attack is a multi-hit Electric assault that generates significant Voltage and can be repeated indefinitely by rapidly tapping the Basic Attack button. This attack is essential for Voltage generation and can be combined with Dodges to maintain positioning without interrupting the combo.
After sustaining the third attack for a set period of time, Qingyi emits a flash, empowering her fourth attack. It is recommended to finish off the Basic Attack combo at this point. Her 4th attack can be immediately executed by halting execution of the 3rd attack. This final stage of the combo comes in two variants – Standard and Empowered, with the latter requiring flash mentioned earlier (which takes around 1.3-1.5 seconds of continuously tapping Basic Attack 3) both of these deal substantial Electric damage and generate more Voltage, especially in its empowered form, which should always be prioritized.
Qingyi can also charge her Basic Attack for a powerful variant by holding it down. The unempowered charge is weak, but the empowered version unleashes a six-part sequence of dashing attacks, ending in a final smash. It features high damage, Daze multipliers and can access her Core Passive. It can be ended early by releasing the hold, causing her to skip to final smash at the cost of other dash attacks. While executing the final smash, Qingyi becomes Invulnerable and if you can time it just before the enemy strikes, she performs a Perfect Dodge. This empowered sequence is vital for Qingyi’s rotation and should be the focal point of her gameplay.
To gain access to the empowered variant of her held Basic Attack, Qingyi must first have at least 75 Voltage, after which she’ll consume all of it in order to execute the empowered attack sequence. Any voltage consumed over the minimum 75 required will grant the attack an additional 1% damage and 0.5% Daze for a total possible increase of 25% increased damage and 12.5% increased Daze at 100 voltage. However despite this bonus, it is generally recommended to execute more frequent empowered Basic Attacks instead. As an extra bonus when executing Qingyi empowered Held Basic Attack, Basic Part 3 and Basic Part 4 she gains Anti-Interrupt and 40% Damage Reduction.
Qingyi's standard Special Attack is rarely used, but her EX-Special is pivotal to her playstyle. This ability delivers a powerful Electric strike, generating Voltage and strong Daze, and allows Qingyi to skip directly to the third stage of her Basic Attack combo when immediately followed by tapping the Basic Attack. This interaction forms the backbone of Qingyi's optimal combo sequence:
EX-Special Attack: Moonlit Begonia
Basic Attack: Penultimate P3 (Tap until empowered P4 is available and Voltage is close to 75)
Basic Attack: Penultimate P4 (Empowered)
Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms (Consumes 75 Voltage)
This combo unleashes a large amount of Daze and fully utilizes Qingyi’s kit. The EX-Special can be charged by holding it, increasing the energy cost from 60 to 80, allowing for increased damage, Voltage generation and Daze but at the cost of fewer combo opportunities. Whether to use the standard or charged EX depends on the player's preference for frequency versus power.
A tip for Qingyi’s EX-Special would be that it can miss some of its strikes unless you’re in very close proximity to your target resulting in less Daze, damage and Voltage so stick as close to enemies as possible when using this ability.
Qingyi’s Chain attack and Ultimate both deliver powerful Electric strikes with solid multiplier values. Qingyi’s Chain attack can be used on Bosses for some additional damage and Voltage generation but generally isn’t as useful to use as a supportive or damage focused Chain from the rest of your team on Elite and Normal enemies. While Qingyi’s Ultimate has the bonus of recovering her entire Voltage gauge on use, those decibels are best used elsewhere generally.
Qingyi’s Dash Attack simply executes a forward strike dealing Physical Damage. Qingyi’s Dodge Counter is another powerful skill. It allows her to skip the first two stages of her Basic Attack combo and jump straight into the third, dealing significant Daze and generating Voltage. This ability enables an alternative combo sequence without relying on EX:
Dodge Counter: Lingering Sentiments
Basic Attack: Penultimate P3 (Tap until empowered P4 is available and Voltage is close to 75)
Basic Attack: Penultimate P4 (Empowered)
Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms (Consumes 75 Voltage)
For a High Voltage & Daze Combo using both EX and Dodge Counter:
Dodge Counter: Lingering Sentiments
Basic Attack: Penultimate P3 (Tap only until empowered P4 available)
Basic Attack: Penultimate P4 (Empowered)
EX Special Attack: Moonlit Begonia
Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms (Consumes 85 -100 Voltage)
Qingyi’s Quick Assist and Assist Follow-up don’t do anything special and simply deal Electric damage, Daze and generate some Voltage. These moves generally aren’t used though as Qingyi much prefers to spend all her time on field executing combos or making use of Dodge Counters.
Qingyi's Core Passive revolves around the Subjugation debuff, which increases the Stun damage multiplier on enemies by 4% per stack when their Daze bar is maxed. Subjugation can stack up to 20 times, potentially raising a boss’s stun damage multiplier from 150% to 230% lasting until they recover from Stun.
Qingyi applies Subjugation through her empowered charged Basic Attack, making it essential to her supportive capabilities. Final smash applies 5 Subjugation stacks and 1 additional stack per Dash Attack executed before for a total of 10 stacks. Thus requiring her to execute 2 empowered combos to get full benefit from her Core Passive, however against non-boss enemies, Qingyi applies double Subjugation stacks, allowing her to reach maximum stacks with a single empowered charged Basic Attack.
Additionally, if you end your empowered charged Basic Attack early to take advantage of the Dodge Component of the ability and manage to land it, the final smash will be set to 10 Subjugation stacks regardless of how many Dash Attacks were executed prior.
Wrapping up her kit, Qingyi’s Additional Ability grants her 20% increased Daze to her Basics (which make up a big chunk of her overall Daze capabilities) and 6 Flat Combat Attack for every point of Impact she has over 120 up to a maximum of 600. In endgame gear with an Impact-increasing W-engine (Preferably with a Combat Impact% Bonus) it is possible to max out this bonus consistently, granting Qingyi a nice bit of bonus damage. What makes this Additional Ability so great though is that all that’s needed to activate it is teaming Qingyi with ANY Combat character or of course a member of her faction.
Qingyi stands out as one of the best Stunning characters in the game at the time of her release, thanks to her large and universal Stun damage amplification and solid Daze output. However, her demanding playstyle requires her to occupy the majority of field time outside the Stun window to maximize her Voltage generation and Subjugation stacks application. While this might not suit every player, Qingyi’s position at the top of the meta is unquestionable, making her a valuable addition to any team focused on Stun mechanics.
This tier list assesses characters based on their combat potential in Zenless Zone Zero’s current most demanding content, Shiyu Defense (SD). SD is a mode similar to Genshin Impact’s Spiral Abyss or Honkai Star Rail’s Memory of Chaos and requires multiple teams, Disk Drives and good W-Engines. This mode offers a reasonable mix of Boss encounters (single target) and Elite packs (2-3 targets), allowing multiple characters to find a niche but in the end, there is a bias toward single target focused characters at the top-end and tier list ratings will reflect that.
Please keep in mind Zenless Zone Zero is a skill-based game and each character has a different playstyle, difficulty level and even special tricks and combos. Zenless Zone Zero is also a team based game and it's only by combining both these factors to the highest level a character can reach optimal performance.

The W-Engines are listed in order of priority. Sometimes the percentages appearing near them won't reflect their performance as pure damage or Stun output isn't the only thing we're looking at - the utility of the W-Engine might be more important than the calculations imply.
The top number shows the performance of the W-Engine when applying Daze while the bottom number when dealing Damage. You can find more information about them in the Calculations tab.

Rotation & Teams
Qingyi is truly flexible and can be played with every Combat character in the game thanks to her incredibly easy to satisfy Additional Ability condition along with her universal Stun damage multiplier. As she’s good with everyone she currently lacks any specific must build/pull synergies however, she is strongest in Zhu Yuan’s team at the time of her release.
Qingyi is Harumasa's best Stun based teammate - shares his element applying Shock anomaly to assist with his goal of keeping Shock active for Thunder Metal and his passives but also assists Harumasa with quick access to the Quivers granted via Anomaly thanks to both units working toward the same Anomaly gauge goal. Qingyi also provides enormous damage multipliers during the Stun window - something that doubles down on Harumasa's identity as a burst damage dealer with the goal of unloading destruction as soon as Stun lands.
If a column has multiple characters, the bigger one is the priority choice for the team while the smaller ones are alternatives. If they are the same size, either of them can be used.
Due to the way Qingyi's additional ability team requirements work she can be quite literally played in almost all standard team compositions consisting of a Stunner, Attacker and Support and is in many cases actually the best in slot as well. For this reason treat the teams below simply as samples of the teams she can be played in - not the only teams.
Bangboo options:
Despite Qingyi's complex kit, her gameplay is surprisingly straightforward, focusing on a few key combos and a loose priority order. The essence of playing Qingyi lies in accumulating and spending Voltage on her Enhanced Charged Basic attacks to apply Subjugation stacks effectively. To maximize her impact, it’s crucial to execute the full Enhanced Charged Basic attack with all five dash attacks, unless you’re confident in triggering the bonus dodge with the final blow.
Qingyi's gameplay centers around two primary combos, each tailored to specific battle conditions.
This combo is optimal when you have enough energy to execute an EX attack, allowing you to maximize Qingyi's damage and Daze potential:
- EX Special Attack: Moonlit Begonia
- Basic Attack: Penultimate P3 (Tap until empowered P4 is available and Voltage is close to 75)
- Basic Attack: Penultimate P4 (Empowered)
- Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms (Consumes 75 Voltage)
This combo is ideal when you don't have enough energy for an EX but can rely on a Dodge Counter to initiate the sequence. It requires a bit more time spent tapping Basic P3.
- EX Special Attack: Moonlit Begonia
- Basic Attack: Penultimate P3 (Tap until empowered P4 is available and Voltage is close to 75)
- Basic Attack: Penultimate P4 (Empowered)
- Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms (Consumes 75 Voltage)
If you’re out of energy for an EX and lack an opportunity for a Dodge Counter, you can fall back on a standard combo:
- Basic Attack: Penultimate P1
- Basic Attack: Penultimate P2
- Basic Attack: Penultimate P3 (Tap until empowered P4 is available and Voltage is close to 75)
- Basic Attack: Penultimate P4 (Empowered)
- Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms (Consumes 75 Voltage)
This combo is less efficient, as the first two attacks don’t generate Voltage, deal less Daze, and offer lower damage output. It should only be used to fill time between Dodge Counters and EX Specials.
When you have an abundance of energy or need to Stun an enemy quickly, you can hold down Qingyi’s EX for a burst of high damage, Voltage and Daze per second but makes you more reliant on Dodge Counters or the Standard combo as you’ll have less energy to work with.
When faced with a flurry of opportunities to perform Dodge Counters and/or you find yourself with a tonne of energy, the EX and Dodge counter combo can be combined to shoot for a very high Voltage finisher with minimal Basic 3 tapping time required.
For a High Voltage & Daze Combo using both EX and Dodge Counter:
- Dodge Counter: Lingering Sentiments
- Basic Attack: Penultimate P3 (Tap only until empowered P4 available)
- Basic Attack: Penultimate P4 (Empowered)
- EX Special Attack: Moonlit Begonia
- Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms (Consumes 85 -100 Voltage)
This combo offers a powerful high Voltage finisher with minimal Basic P3 tapping. However, it’s important to remember that the difference between a 100 Voltage Charged Enhanced Basic and a 75 Voltage one isn’t significant. Therefore, don’t delay stacking Subjugation just to gain a slight Daze increase unless the resources and situation align perfectly.
Calculations
Don't use the damage output calculations as an indication on who is worth pulling or investing as those are just simulations and in day-to-day gameplay there's a lot variables and also the skill of the player is important. As usual, don't compare the numbers between characters.
Important!
Rotation time: 17.83s.
Attention!!! Calculations between characters that use Quick Swap Daze vs Main Field Daze Rotations should not be compared as they are two different playstyles!
This rotation is a rough representation of Qingyi's Main Field Daze Rotation for the purpose of calculations. In actual combat you should expect to find yourself sequencing abilities slightly differently based on your access to EX's, Dodge Counters and how attentive you are with the "Voltage" gauge. Opting to continue executing Basic attack Part 3 for longer durations to build additional "Voltage" or using the Non-held EX are also completely viable.
Main Field Daze Rotation
- Dodge Counter: Lingering Sentiments
- Basic Attack: Penultimate P3 (Tap Until Flash)
- Basic Attack: Penultimate P4 (Enhanced)
- EX Special Attack: Moonlit Begonia (Hold)
- Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms: Rush ATK (All 5 Hits)
- Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms: Finishing ATK
- Dodge Counter: Lingering Sentiments

- Basic Attack: Penultimate P4 (Enhanced)
- EX Special Attack: Moonlit Begonia (Hold)
- Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms: Rush ATK (All 5 Hits)
