A silver-tongued Foxian girl, Tingyun is the Head Representative of the Whistling Flames, a merchant guild officially approved by the Sky-Faring Commission. She has such a way with words that often leaves her audience eagerly waiting for more of her captivating tales. As a result of her supervision, the Xianzhou trade fairs are now known throughout the galaxy.
"Try one's best to avoid conflict when possible, and persuade those who can be persuaded" — that's Tingyun's motto.

Review
Incredibly powerful buffs to ATK, DMG, and even raw multipliers,
Can be played very SP positive,
Invaluable Energy restoration Ultimate,
Scales very well with Eidolons.
Works best in a hypercarry setup as all her buffs are single-target only.
Tingyun is arguably the best 4-star support character in the game. She is able to boost a single ally’s ATK and DMG significantly while also providing a large influx of Energy to said ally with her Ultimate. She is able to elevate damage dealers in hypercarry comps to impressive levels while remaining largely SP-positive. She is a staple support character and it is highly recommended that every player pursue her acquisition.
This honestly might be the shortest review of the bunch because Tingyun is really rather cut and dry; she’s just that good. If you don’t have her, get her. If you have her and you’re not using her, what are you doing??
Tingyun’s Skill selects a single ally to buff with Benediction, increasing their ATK by up to 50%. This ATK increase cannot be more than 25% of Tingyun’s own ATK, so she does want some of that stat to better buff allies. Benediction is also unique in that it allows the buffed ally to deal additional Lightning DMG equal to 40% of the buffed ally’s ATK. Benediction lasts for 3 turns.
What this additional Lightning damage essentially does is provide a raw DMG multiplier increase to the buffed ally. I often say how rare certain damage boosts are, be it RES PEN or DEF Shred, but this one thing is actually the rarest. Raw increases to DMG multipliers is the single biggest increase to damage you can get because it’s completely undiluted — in fact it makes any other boosts you get better. Tingyun being able to provide a boost of this calibre with a push of a button and have it last for 3 turns is immaculate. Not only this, but because it’s tied to turn count rather than action count, anything that counts as an Extra Action will not deplete Benediction in any way, making things like Seele’s Resurgence, ally follow-up attacks, or even just any Ultimates highly efficient.
Tingyun’s Ultimate restores 50 Energy for a target ally and increases their DMG by up to 50% for 2 turns. While it has a steeper than average Energy cost of 130, the ability to grant any ally you choose 50 flat Energy is exceptional. For many characters who rely on their Ultimates, Tingyun is an invaluable addition that allows them to have higher uptime on their big hitting setups. Even for characters who do not rely on their Ultimates, 50 Energy is 50 Energy; it’s always appreciated.
Tingyun’s Talent also interacts with Benediction, causing an additional instance of DMG equal to 60% of the buffed ally’s ATK whenever Tingyun uses her Basic ATK. This means Tingyun can also contribute some non-negligible damage in between reapplying her Skill’s Benediction. It’s not likely to be making a huge difference, but it can assist in defeating trash adds.
Her Bonus Ability Traces are incredibly important to her gameplay. A2 increases her SPD by 20% for 1 turn after using her Skill, A4 increases Basic ATK DMG by 40%, and A6 will regenerate 5 Energy immediately at the start of each of her turns.
Because of Tingyun’s kit, the single most important stat to maximising her effectiveness is SPD. All the SPD in the world, because the faster Tingyun is, the faster she gets Energy back, and thus the faster she can give Energy back to your damage dealer. A 20% SPD boost for free after using Skill is very much appreciated, especially due to Tingyun’s extraordinarily high base SPD of 112. Taking more turns before your damage dealers also means more opportunities to take advantage of the free Energy being given from A6. It is easily the most important stat for her.
Eidolons are not a necessity for Tingyun, but there is a strong argument to be made for obtaining them at your convenience. They are all largely self-explanatory and as powerful as they say. E6 in particular is incredibly useful as it causes her Ultimate’s Energy restore to go from 50 to 60. It may initially seem like a meagre increase, but you would be stunned at how big of a difference this makes in practice.
For as long as damage dealers need Energy for their Ultimates, Tingyun will continue to be a dominant support character.
Honkai: Star Rail is a game where team building matters most and while our tier list takes the optimal setup into account, a lot of characters can work and do well - even those ranked lower - when you invest into them. Also for story or lower difficulties of Simulated Universe, you don't need to worry about ratings and tiers. You can safely clear that content even with F2P characters as long as you build your team correctly.

1
When the wearer uses their Ultimate, all allies' actions are Advanced Forward by 16/18/20/22/24%
Source: Stellar Warp
Allows characters with high Speed and/or an accessible Ultimate to grant substantial action boosts to themselves and the team allowing for higher Speed (and cycle) breakpoints. Strongest on characters who can access their Ultimate at least once every 3 (but ideally 2) actions. Specifically strong when combined with other additional action advances or energy generation.
2
After the wearer uses attacks or gets hit, additionally regenerates 4/5/6/7/8 Energy. This effect can only be triggered 1 time per turn.
Source: Stellar Warp
One of the strongest energy generating Cone in the game - especially in encounters where the wearer is getting hit many times as each hit grants 8 energy. Will help a lot with Energy issues, but at the cost of all other supportive effects and base stats.
3
Increases the wearer's Energy Regeneration Rate by 10/12/14/16/18% and regenerates 1 Skill Point when the wearer uses their Ultimate on an ally. This effect can be triggered after every 2 uses of the wearer's Ultimate. When the wearer uses their Skill, the next ally taking action (except the wearer) deals 30/35/40/45/50% more DMG for 1 turn(s).
Source: Stellar Warp
A top option for characters that advance others via their skill, guaranteeing the DMG% boost of this Cone. Useful even on characters without the ability, thanks to the Energy Regen and skill point generation.
Alternative or more specialized Light Cones that also are viable options for the character.
Upon battle entry, if an ally deals the same DMG Type as the wearer, DMG dealt increases by 12/15/18/21/24%.
Source: Stellar Warp
Decent team buffing Cone, but with the restriction of only granting its boost to allies of the same Element as the wearer.
Best Relic Sets show the best sets that support the main character playstyle and work out of the box while the Special Relic Sets either are situational, support an alternative playstyle or are targeted toward min-maxers. The percentage numbers showcase the relative DPS increase when you take into account the set bonus only. For some characters there's no DPS (or its equivalent) available and in that case we listed the sets in the order of priority.
1
Increases SPD by 6%.
When using Skill or Ultimate on one ally target, increases the ability target's CRIT DMG by 18%, lasting for 2 turn(s). This effect can stack up to 2 time(s).
Incredibly powerful set for characters with Ultimates and or Skills which target a single ally and who work well in teams with a sole damage dealer who can benefit from CRIT DMG.
2
Increases SPD by 6%.
When the wearer uses their Ultimate on an ally, SPD for all allies increases by 12% for 1 turn(s). This effect cannot be stacked.
Good team wide supportive option for characters with Ultimates which target allies. With this set equipped Ultimates are best timed carefully to ensure the Speed buff is active on key members for as long as possible.
3
Increases SPD by 6%.
When the wearer uses their Ultimate on an ally, SPD for all allies increases by 12% for 1 turn(s). This effect cannot be stacked.
If you can't put together a top recommended 4P set with satisfactory sub/main stats, mix and match the 2P Bonuses from the following instead:
4
ATK increases by 12%.
The wearer's SPD increases by 6% and Basic ATK DMG increases by 10%.
Accessible alternative to using 2P SPD + 2P ATK, assuming it has strong sub-stats.
Increases Wind DMG by 10%.
After the wearer uses Ultimate, their action is Advanced Forward by 25%.
Allows characters with accessible Ultimates to reach higher Speed (and cycle) breakpoints compared to just stacking Speed. Strongest on characters with powerful ultimate related effects or who can access their ultimate at least once every 3 (but ideally 2) actions. Particularly strong when combined with other action advancement effects.
1
Increases the wearer's Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. When the wearer's SPD reaches 120 or higher, the wearer's action is Advanced Forward by 40% immediately upon entering battle.
Incredibly potent option for buff/debuff based characters. The advance from this set allows the wearer to apply their buffs/debuffs before the rest of the team acts, accelerate rotations, allows access to ultimates closer to the start of the fight and also grants Energy Regen - a valuable stat for many supports.
The following Planars are all usable and have their own strength and weaknesses when looking for team-based supportive effects.

Focusing on Speed is very important as you want Tingyun to generate SP as often as possible. Defensive stats should be preferred on a lower level Tingyun to ensure her survivability.
