Pros & Cons
Pros

  • 100% Action Advance on her Ultimate,

  • Easy to play,

  • Excellent damage output,

  • SP efficient thanks to her Enhanced Basic ATK,

  • Joint ATK procs on-hit effects twice (including Robin's Ultimate),

  • Massive self buffs to SPD and ATK.

Cons

  • Absurd Energy cost for Ultimate at 350,

  • Damage outside of Ultimate is unimpressive,

  • Best teammates are all premium characters,

  • Heavily reliant on Sunday for the best performance (she is significantly less powerful without him),

  • Gains solutions to problems and a qualitative increase in power from Eidolon 1 and her Signature.

Review (By Sushou)

Aglaea is a powerful new Remembrance unit. She is an entirely CRIT-focused DPS character with her own unique summoned entity. Aglaea can become one of the fastest-acting characters during combat and has mechanics to increase the damage of herself and her summon based on their SPD values as well. Her extremely expensive 350 Energy cost Ultimate further enhances herself and her summon to become lightning-fast and lets her attack at a ridiculous rate. While complex on the surface and in team building, fortunately, Aglaea is actually not hard to play.

Aglaea is the second ever Remembrance unit, and like the Remembrance Trailblazer, has her own summoned Memosprite, called Garmentmaker. Garmentmaker similarly has their own stats, abilities, and place in the action order. Aglaea's Talent describes the stat sharing; Garmentmaker has an initial SPD equal to 35% of Aglaea's SPD, and its Max HP is equal to 66% of Aglaea's Max HP plus 720. The SPD value sounds extremely low, but this will make sense soon.

The second part of Aglaea's Talent is the Seam Stitch effect. When Garmentmaker is on the field, Aglaea's attacks inflict Seam Stitch onto enemies, making Garmentmaker prioritise attacking them. In addition to this, when Aglaea attacks enemies with Seam Stitch she will deal additional Lightning DMG equal to 30% of her ATK, though do note that only one enemy can have Seam Stitch at a time.

On its turn, Garmentmaker will deal up to 110% ATK to one enemy and 66% ATK to adjacent targets. This attack restores 10 Energy for Aglaea. When Garmentmaker attacks an enemy with the aforementioned Seam Stitch state, Garmentmaker will increase its SPD by 55. Not 55%, no, 55 flat. This stacks up to 6 times. Yeah, Garmentmaker goes from having a laughable SPD that even Lightning-Lord scoffs at, to vibrating the very air molecules around them. Garmentmaker's Talent lets them have an additional 330 SPD.

When initially summoned, Garmentmaker will immediately get to act, having their action advanced by 100%. When Garmentmaker disappears, either by enemy mauling or their own internal desire to spontaneously and violently explode, they will restore an extra 20 Energy for Aglaea and lose all speed stacks.

Now, back to Aglaea. Her Skill will summon Garmentmaker if they are absent, and if Garmentmaker is present already, they will be healed by 50% of their Max HP. This Skill only restores 20 Energy instead of the expected 30. After using this Skill, if Garment Maker is summoned, Aglaea will immediately Action Advance herself by 100%. This ability is only really worth using if Garment Maker isn’t already on the field.

Aglaea's Ultimate is the focal point of her entire kit. If Garmentmaker isn't present, they are summoned upon using the Ultimate, and if they're already present, their HP is fully restored. Aglaea fully Action Advances herself and enters the Supreme Stance state. This allows Aglaea to increase her own SPD based on the number of stacks that Garmentmaker has obtained, up to 15% SPD increase per stack; this means if Garmentmaker has increased their SPD the maximum number of times, Aglaea will gain a 90% SPD boost. This one is unambiguously a percentage increase.

In addition to this, Aglaea's Skill will be locked, and her Basic ATK will get Enhanced, becoming a Joint ATK. This has both Aglaea and her summon Garmentmaker attack in the same action (These attacks use their individual stats and count as each character separately attacking), dealing 200% of Aglaea's ATK and 200% of Garmentmaker's ATK to a single enemy, and then 90% of Aglaea's ATK and 90% Garmentmakers ATK to adjacent enemies. This cannot recover Skill points.

During the Supreme Stance state, Garmentmaker is immune to Crowd Control, and a countdown will appear in the Action Order with a set SPD of 100. When the countdown is over, the Supreme Stance state will end and Garmentmaker will clock out, head home, self-destruct and as a result wipe their speed stacks requiring you to start again. However, if you use Aglaea's Ultimate again before the countdown is over, the countdown will be reset, Garment Maker will stick around and keep their speed stacks rolling.

This allows Aglaea and Garmentmaker to deal astounding Blast damage very easily at ridiculous speeds which will see enemies perishing at a breakneck pace. What could be the cost for such power? Well... It's 350 Energy. Yeah, Aglaea's Ultimate costs a staggering 350 Energy, far exceeding the previous highest of 240.

The combination of Aglaea’s vastly increased potency during Ultimate and the fact she loses momentum directly after it ends unsurprisingly positions her as an incredibly ultimate-reliant character. Aglaea wants her Ultimate as fast as possible, but would in fact prefer even more Energy than just that to be able to chain multiple ultimates together to maintain her momentum — something that is possible but quite challenging.

Aglaea's Bonus Ability traces improve functionality further. A2 will make it so that during Supreme Stance, Aglaea and Garmentmaker have their ATK increased by 720% of Aglaea's SPD plus 360% of Garmentmaker's SPD. This allows you to convert the massive SPD increases into a direct damage increase.

A4 will allow Garmentmaker to retain 1 stack of their SPD boost when they are resummoned, should they disappear, making ramping back up after an ultimate a little less punishing. Lastly, A6 will automatically set Aglaea's Energy to 50% of her Max at the start of a battle if Aglaea's Energy is below 50% when you enter combat.

It's honestly a lot of words for 'Press Ultimate and go to town', but understanding the intricacies can help to build better teams. As far as enhanced states go, Supreme Stance most definitely lives up to its name, and with the ability to Action Advance Aglaea, you can end up getting a lot of attacks off before enemies even really have a chance to act, something that is becoming increasingly more valuable as more and more enemies show up that have gimmicks that scream 'stop me or suffer'.

Fortunately, ramping-up is also aided by the fact the Joint ATK counts as Garmentmaker's ATK as well, meaning you can gain the SPD stacks relatively quickly, especially since Garmentmaker will still be making attacks on their own turns.

Sadly unlike the firefull flyshiny bearer of the previous highest Max Energy, Aglaea cannot simply restore large percentages of her total Energy, so while the incredible SPD of Aglaea and Garmentmaker is most assuredly a selling point, it is also something borne out of necessity — without the very frequent attacks, you'd never even come close to using her Ultimate in anything considered a 'reasonable timeframe'.

Even still, it's not enough alone. Perhaps if you're defeating fodder enemies often you'll maybe have a decent Energy economy, but realistically Aglaea is just not playable without outside assistance. To that end, attempting to utilise Aglaea without at least some form of Energy regeneration is equivalent to pushing a boulder up a hill. The best way to aid her in this endeavour is to use percentage-based restores like those from Huohuo and Sunday, as both of those will restore 70 Energy for Aglaea with their respective Ultimates or action advances to allow for more attacks and as a result energy, Sunday is best in this department but Robin, Remembrance MC and to a lesser extent Bronya can also fill the role.

Of particular note with Robin is the fact that Aglaea's extreme SPD values let her proc Robin's Ultimate very frequently and consistently. This is especially true during the Supreme Stance state, as the Joint ATK actually does count as two separate attacks for the purposes of proccing effects — such as Robin's Ultimate (or Feixiao's Talent if you're into that).

It is absolutely no exaggeration to say that Aglaea is completely team-reliant in order to function and, not only that, she must be built specifically with her team's action order and abilities in mind. This means paying attention to speed tuning and ensuring any action advances you use are helping Aglaea to either access her Ultimate faster, or to land more Joint attacks during its limited window.

For Eidolons, her E1 will make the enemy with Seam Stitch take 15% more DMG, and will regenerate 20 Energy for Aglaea whenever she or Garmentmaker attack this target. E2 will let Aglaea and Garmentmaker ignore 14% DEF when they attack, stacking up to 3 times and lasting until any other unit uses an ability. E4 will increase the SPD stack limit for Garmentmaker by 1, and will grant a stack whenever Aglaea herself attacks as well. Lastly E6 will grant 20% Lightning RES PEN during Supreme Stance, and will grant additional DMG dealt based on the SPD of either Aglaea or Garmentmaker; 160/240/320 SPD will grant 10%/30%/60% respectively, and to their respective SPD holders.

With what we know about Aglaea and her Energy addiction, it should come as no surprise that with an E1 like this, it’s one of the best she could ask for; it fixes a lot of her major issues and reliance on specific teams, while also allowing her to chain together ultimates far more frequently, and this helps in maintaining her speed stacks for gigantic potential damage gains.

Aglaea is a very 'all or nothing' type of character, both in terms of her combat performance, and also her team building. All of her favoured support units are limited 5 stars that are heavily contested with other characters and even specific team archetypes. The ideal case is wanting both of the Charmony siblings, as well as preferring to also have the frightened foxian Judge, and this doesn't exactly scream 'accessibility' now does it?

When you do have all the constituent parts, Aglaea's performance skyrockets to incredible levels, and Aglaea at her best is one of the best DPS units we've gotten so far. Some assembly is required before the intended function is achieved, but if you have the patience for it, you will be adequately rewarded.

Best Light Cones

The numbers show the percentage damage output increase/decrease compared to the Light Cone marked with 100%.

121.94%

Increases the wearer's base SPD by 12/14/16/18/20. After the wearer and the wearer's memosprite attacks, the wearer gains 1 stack of "Brocade." Each stack of "Brocade" increases the wearer's and their memosprite's CRIT DMG by 9/10.5/12/13.5/15%, stacking up to 6 time(s). When reaching maximum stacks, each "Brocade" stack additionally increases Basic ATK DMG dealt by 9/10.5/12/13.5/15%.

Source: Event Warp (limited)

The clear best choice for Aglaea, thanks to its incredible damage multipliers but also more importantly, the increased base SPD which enables far easier access to the 160 SPD breakpoint.

108.85%

Increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 12/14/16/18/20%. When the wearer's memosprite is on the field, increases the wearer and their memosprite's DMG dealt by 24/27/30/33/36%.

Source: Nameless Glory

Powerful generic option for CRIT based offensive focused memomasters with bonuses that affect both the master and sprite without downtime.

100.9%

When memosprite's turn starts, the wearer and the memosprite each gain 1 stack of "Commemoration." Each stack increases DMG dealt by 8/9/10/11/12%, stacking up to 4 time(s). "Commemoration" is removed from the wearer and the memosprite when the memosprite disappears.

Source: Stellar Warp

This cone's performance directly corresponds to how frequently Aglaea and Garmentmaker can move before her ultimate ends and Garmentmaker perishes, losing the stacks. Without access to action advances and Energy generation from characters such as Sunday this Cone will perform worse than shown.

100%

Increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 12/14/16/18/20%. When the wearer's memosprite is on the field, increases the wearer and their memosprite's DMG dealt by 24/27/30/33/36%.

Source: Nameless Glory

Powerful generic option for CRIT based offensive focused memomasters with bonuses that affect both the master and sprite without downtime.

97.82%

Increases the wearer's ATK by 16/20/24/28/32%. After the wearer uses their Ultimate, additionally increases the wearer and their memosprite's Basic ATK DMG dealt by 20/25/30/35/40% for 3 turn(s).

Source: Event Warp (limited)

A reasonable choice for Aglaea but one which loses significant value in her stronger teams that feature multiple advancements during her Ultimate. In these teams, this Cone's buff wears off, due to how many actions Aglaea takes per Ultimate use.

Best Planetary Sets

100%

(2)

Increases the wearer's CRIT DMG by 16%. When a target summoned by the wearer is on the field, CRIT DMG additionally increases by 32%.

Specialist set for CRIT-based Summoner characters but with the downside of its additional 32% CRIT DMG not affecting the Memosprites of the Remembrance path. Still one of the top options for Aglaea despite that, but it can fall behind other options if you lack other key stats such as CRIT RATE% and or DMG%.

97.99%

(2)

Increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 8%. When the wearer's current CRIT Rate reaches 70% or higher, the wearer's Basic ATK and Skill DMG increase by 20%.

Generic and solid set for CRIT-based damage dealers who focus on Basic ATK and Skill damage, which fits nicely with Aglaea. Just keep in mind that the Basic ATK DMG% does not affect Garmentmaker.

97.12%

(2)

Increases the wearer's ATK by 12%. When the wearer's SPD is equal to or higher than 135/160, the wearer deals 12%/18% more DMG.

Aglaea can easily satisfy the 160 SPD requirement of this set, but Garmentmaker will not benefit from the 18% DMG due to them being a Memosprite.

Speed Tuning Information

Aglaea has many Speed setups available to her - all impacting her performance in a meaningful way. Choosing one and ensuring it works is important to achieving a strong performance with her. Which Speed breakpoint to go for on Aglaea will depend on her Light Cone, the teammates she can be played with and the relics she has available. Below are some of the fundamental and basic setups you can run - note you can optimize much further past this.

With Sunday

Sunday is Aglaea's best and most commonly used teammate. There are many speed break points the two can play around but two of the most accessible and common ones are:

Slow Aglaea

Run Aglaea and Sunday at the following speeds:

  • Aglaea: 102 (Base SPD)
  • Sunday: 160

This setup relies on Sunday to assist Aglaea and Garmentmaker with gaining her initial momentum but allows her to invest all her sub-stats and her Boots main stat into pure offense whilst still maintaining a high action count when it matters most (during her Ultimate) thanks to Sunday's high speed breakpoint catching her up when needed. The downside of this Speed setup is the high gear requirements placed on Sunday - getting 160 Speed on him isn't easy and is needed in order to make this set-up work smoothly. Additionally outside of Ultimate, without her Speed stacks, Aglaea is completely reliant on Sunday to grant her actions and assist her with recovering her energy.

  • Pros:
    • Aglaea reaches ~190-200 SPD during combat and Sunday will allow her to take action again after her turn.
    • Easy to build - can focus into CRIT sub stats.
    • Sunday being fast leads to better buff uptime and more Ultimates.
  • Cons:
    • Without her Ultimate, Aglaea will return to her base SPD can and it will take some time for her to get back into her Ultimate state.
    • Requires Sunday to build an absurd amount of SPD, which may not be compatible with other DPS (and it also sacrifices his CRIT DMG buff).
Fast Aglaea

Run Aglaea and Sunday at the following speeds:

  • Aglaea: 163 (Signature Light Cone, Pre-combat & 4-Pc Hero) | 174 (Non-Signature Light Cone - Not recommended)
  • Sunday: 135

This setup focuses on granting Aglaea additional actions and greater agency outside her Ultimates at the cost of much higher investment in Speed and a semi-mandatory requirement that she has her Signature equipped (or additional external Speed sources). With this Speed setup, you'll ramp-up Aglaea Ultimate more quickly, have a lesser reliance on Sunday's action advance and gain more actions inside her Ultimate damage window. But as a result of Sunday's lower Speed and Aglaea's more frequent actions, you'll also have lower uptime on team buffs - namely Sunday's - resulting in a bit of a trade off. Despite the additional actions, this Speed setup it's not a clear cut winner due to the buff downtime and tight gearing it enforces. The Fast Aglaea setup has many variants and optimizations available based on team members, gear, encounters and playstyles - many of these feature adjustments to Aglaea and Sunday's speed (e.g. running Sunday at 160 Speed alongside Aglaea). As the most speed focused character in the game, the sky is the limit for min maxing past the basics we have here.

  • Pros:
    • Aglaea reaches 270 SPD during combat, allowing her to take 2 turns in between Sunday's actions.
    • Highest possible amount of turns on Aglaea.
    • Aglaea's turns are synced to Robin's 90 SPD Concerto countdown, allowing Robin to re-enter her Ultimate state without wasting any Action Value on Aglaea.
  • Cons:
    • Requires signature Light Cone to make 160+ SPD reachable, while also being extremely stat-hungry - requiring a lot of SPD subs.
    • The SPD tuning is only effective when Aglaea has 6 SPD Boost stacks; when the stacks are reset, she may require some ramp up time before the SPD tuning is achieved again.
    • Some stackable buffs such as Sunday's Signature Light Cone and 4-Pc Sacerdos' Relived Ordeal will often reset when Aglaea takes too many turns.
Without Sunday

When playing without Sunday, things change. Aglaea and Garmentmaker will be more reliant on their own Speed stat for ramping up and achieving actions during Ultimate. Other advancement characters like Bronya, Robin and Remembrance MC can be used as lesser substitutes on a case by case basis but Speed tuning will need to be tweaked accordingly. As a general rule adhering to the usual 134/160 speed breakpoints is a good starting point or fall-back until you're able to fine tune your available Aglaea teams action order precisely.

Calculations

Damage Output

The simulation showcases characters damage potential in the 5 cycle turn limit of Memory of Chaos against 1 target and 3 targets. The section below has all the rules listed.

General:

  • Combat is simulated at 5 cycles of in-game time or 550 Action Points,
  • Units are considered to gain 5 additional energy per rotation through combat (taking a hit, killing an enemy or through party members and their Light Cone),
  • Characters and Light Cones are calculated at maximum output starting battle with ramp time removed from stacking buffs (intended to give a constant evaluation of power not dependant on length of fight that can be used to assess maximum power). Additional information about loss of damage due to ramp time can be round attached to related Light Cones, relics and characters,
  • Character rotations are smoothed removing breakpoints relating to Speed and Energy (finishing a fight with 90% energy full or 2 AV off next ability leading to skewed results).

Enemies:

  • Enemies are considered to always have a Break Bar resulting in units all doing 90% of real damage (this doesn't apply to Break characters - they simulate the Break bar correctly),
  • Enemies Speed is set to 140,
  • Enemies are assumed to be at 100% of HP at start of battle and to die at exactly at the end of combat. Which means halfway through the fight they are at 50% HP,
  • Enemies are assumed to have 0 Resistance,
  • Enemies are always considered vulnerable to the attackers element,
  • Enemies are considered level 95 and with DEF included.

Units:

  • All units are level 80,
  • Traces are all unlocked, skills at Level 10 and Basic at Level 6,
  • All units have fully upgraded 5 star relics with 24 desired sub stats out of a possible 54,
  • All units use their Best In Slot 2 and 4 piece sets,
  • All units use Light Cones that are realistically obtainable by all player (excluding Limited LC).

Important! Aglaea's total damage output benefits far more from her team than other characters. As such comparing the raw figures to other characters calculations is not an accurate comparison (even more than usual, as we know a lot of you still do it). We've included the essentials required to ensure her Eidolons, relics and Light Cones are represented accurately, but with full team buffs and specific synergies that come with the Remembrance path, she can match or exceed other top tier damage dealers.

Also, how beneficial Aglaea's E1 ends up being is highly reliant on her access to energy and her ability to chain together Ultimates before and after it's active. If you're able to occassionally or consistantly chain together Ultimates at E0 you can consider the benefit E1 provides to be significantly lower. If you're unable to chain together any or a minimal amount of Ultimates the represented number reflects the value E1 will provide.
