Should You Pull? (TLDR)

You should pull if

  • You need someone who can be both a healer and a debuffer who can provide a mix of [Poison], [Burn], and [Rigidity]/[Petrify]
  • If you want one of the better [Petrify] applicators (Being able to apply Petrify without needing to be higher level of incantation other than one)
  • If you have a team with constant debuff to improve Loggerhead’s healing.

Review

Loggerhead is a new 5-star who might have attracted players due to her frankly very unique design, but how is her gameplay?

Loggerhead is a debuffer/healer who has quite a bit of a unique kit that might seem a bit disjointed on paper. First off, as you can see, she doesn’t always apply a consistent debuff. She applies them randomly from the [Collection of Neg Statuses], which are [Rigidity], [Poison], and [Burn]. She applies [Burn] the most at 5 stacks, while the rest are applied at 1 stack each. These are applied randomly, though priority is given to effects not yet applied.

She applies this through her Ultimate, which is also a mass attack, and her single-target skill [Take A Look]. Her other skill is a targeted counter called [Give It A Try!] which grants [Memory Relay] to whoever you pick and up to 3 units behind the target depending on Incantation level. It also applies 1 random effect from the [Collection of Neg Statuses] to whoever attacks the counter.

Now you’re wondering, okay, she applies all these effects, but like, why? Why are we doing this? That answer can be found in her Insights.

Her Insight I makes it so that allies trigger [Memory Relay] and gain a stack of an effect called [Clear Head], which increases healing done. Then, at the end of the round, you gain additional stacks of [Clear Head], and everyone in [Memory Relay] will recover health.

In order for her to heal for a good amount, you need to increase the stacks of [Clear Head]. This brings us to [Head of the Storeroom], which makes it so that for each [Neg Status] applied when allies cast incantations, she gains 1 [Clear Head]. Loggerhead applies all those effects for this reason. You just want a lot of negative effects on the enemies, regardless of what they are, so she can trigger her healing and become a strong healer.

So yes, that is pretty much her entire kit. She applies a lot of debuffs, and the more she applies, the more her healing increases. She’s not as flexible as some of the other healer options you have, and her healing output likely won’t be great unless you have the proper setup. However, she can work well in a team that focuses on debuffs, and you can pair her with units that benefit from the effects she applies.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • She functions as an effective debuffer in terms of just how much she applies, and it directly increases her healing.
  • She has a wide array of effects, applying [Poison], [Burn], and [Rigidity] (which turns into [Petrify]). Her abilities prioritize effects that have not yet been applied.
Cons

  • Unlike many other healers, she needs to build up before her healing becomes effective.
  • Debuffs are still random even with priority for unapplied effects.

Portrays

Her most notable Portrays are probably her 3rd, 4th, and 5th. I don’t think you need them per se, but they’re all quite helpful and definitely boost her performance as a healer.

For example, her Portray Level 3 increases the healing percentage from 1.2% to 1.9%, which is more impactful than it seems and helps her build healing faster. Level 4 increases the number of random effects she applies by 1, which is really useful. Not only does it let her throw out more debuffs, it also gives her [Clear Head], which keeps increasing her healing. Level 5 increases the damage reduction for allies under [Memory Replay], supporting her role as a sustain, though I wouldn’t say it’s absolutely necessary.

Great Synergies

Loggerhead is a fairly straightforward character. She should work to some extent on most teams, but of course, she would benefit more from a team that can consistently keep her healing high.

Noire applies the same types of effects as Loggerhead, and both benefit from the stacking of these effects, as their abilities rely on negative status effects. Noire does a great job of boosting Loggerhead’s healing, and Loggerhead helps Noire trigger her Ultimate multiple times. It's a fully beneficial relationship.

You can build on this synergy by adding someone like Druvis to apply even more [Petrify], especially since they all share the same Afflatus.

Psychubes

Here are the best Psychubes you can use on Loggerhead:

Blasphemer of Night
Blasphemer of Night
Your Friendly Exorcist
Your Friendly Exorcist2.5
Yearning Desire
Yearning Desire
That Inquisitive Dear
That Inquisitive Dear

"Blasphemer of Night" is the no-brainer option here. Loggerhead can apply two [Neg Statuses] easily for that DMG Dealt bonus.

There's an argument to be made that Loggerhead's damage doesn't matter, though—in that case, "Your Friendly Exorcist" is a fantastic support option. As Loggerhead synergizes best with other [Plant] units, this mono-[Plant] support cube works great for her.

As always, "Yearning Desire" is a good budget substitute for "Blasphemer of Night."

Also since she’s a healer. Like a lot of healers, she uses That Inquistive Dear, and it works well for her more so than even like Balloon Party because she actually has debuff incantations.

Teams

A few suggestions are listed below. 3-People teams are highlighted, with the 4th slot added at the side to provide a 4-P variation of the same team or even insights on possible variations of the 3-P team.

Standard Teams
Stack Them Effects[GLB]
TEAM EXPLANATION
  • 4th slot options: Satsuki/Sotheby/etc
  • Loggerhead is a healer who relies heavily on debuffs to function effectively, and Noire happens to apply the exact same effects, creating strong synergy between the two. With this duo, you will be inflicting a lot of [Rigidity] (which turns into [Petrify]), [Poison], and [Burn], allowing Noire to use her ultimate frequently for damage and enabling Loggerhead to heal consistently just from sheer debuff amounts. Druvis buffs all Plant allies and also applies [Petrify]. Her Euphoria stat includes buffs for the [Petrify] effect (attacking enemies in the [Petrify] status does not remove [Petrify]). If you include Druvis in the team, I recommend that the last slot also be a Plant unit. Satsuki can apply [Rigidity] as well. If Loggerhead's healing is not sufficient, Sotheby can help and she also applies [Poison] to contribute more debuffs. Just focus on including characters who apply debuffs.
Same Banner[GLB]
TEAM EXPLANATION
  • 4th slot options: Any Debuffer
  • They're on the same banner, so you might end up getting both of them. Loggerhead and Liang Yue actually work quite well together. Liang Yue has effects that specifically benefit from [Burn] and [Poison], particularly through her Eight Deva Devastation - Shadow, which is a mass attack that applies [Poison] and [Burn]. Depending on the number of stacks, the damage dealt and PEN Rate are significantly increased. Mercuria is a great unit who can increase Incantation levels and is one of Liang Yue’s best partners overall. She also provides a general damage boost to the entire team. For the fourth team member, consider someone who applies debuffs if you want to focus on maximizing Loggerhead's potential.
5 Star or Below Budget Team[GLB]
TEAM EXPLANATION
  • 4th slot options: Kanjira, Rabies, Digger
  • Let’s say you just really like Loggerhead, or you’re new to the game and don’t have any 6-stars yet. Here are some 5-stars that might work for you. You can probably slot them into the teams I listed above. Or hey, if you just like them, keep using them. They might get a Euphoria buff down the line anyway.
  • Baby Blue is a solid debuffer, so she’ll help with Loggerhead’s healing requirement, and she’s also a Mental DMG support, which Loggerhead is as well. Satsuki, whom I mentioned earlier, still works well in my opinion since she can apply [Rigidity]. This team might fall a bit short on damage, especially in harder stages, but it should carry you through a good chunk of the early game. You’ll get stronger units over time, and who knows, maybe a 5-star will get a Euphoria buff that fits better with Loggerhead or just allows for more DPS.
