Review
Unique and very large Coordinated Attack amplification buff.
Good full team healing capabilities.
Good carrier of supportive Echos and sets.
Attack animations are on the slower side for characters.
More limited on team building synergies due to primary buff being limited to coordinated attackers.
Very Concerto hungry especially on her first rotation without access to her Intro immediately.
Youhu is a 4-star Glacio Gauntlet wielder specializing in full team heals and Coordinated Attacks amplification - a buff exclusive to her at the time of her release. She fulfills a similar role to Baizhi in teams, carrying Support Echoes and Sets, providing full team heals, and having a very strong Single Target buff on her Outro. What sets her apart is Melee combat, higher Field time commitments, and a much more specialized but stronger Outro buff which narrows her applications but also has higher potential. As with most supports her game plan is to trigger and maintain her Outro buff on the target of your choice while taking up as little field time as possible. So let's get started and learn exactly how to do that!
As we’ve just learned, Youhu's Outro is the focus of her kit and responsible for most of her support potential. On its execution she grants the incoming Resonator a whopping 100% Coordinated Attack damage amplification for 28 seconds, persisting throughout Swaps. This is the single biggest source of damage amplification for any attack type in the game and is absolutely something that can have teams built around it, provided you have a Resonator with considerable and consistent Coordinated Attack damage output. However, there aren’t too many of them at the time of her release.
To achieve her game plan of accessing her Outro as fast as possible and maintaining the same, Concerto Generation is essential - the fastest way to generate it is to effectively employ the combined unique mechanics behind her Forte Gauge and Resonance Skill.
Her Resonance skill has a cooldown of 15 seconds, generates 10 Concerto Energy, and grants her “Lucky Draw” - a special effect that grants her one of 4 unique “Antique” buffs at random. While an “Antique” is active, her next Basic Attack is enhanced, becoming “Antique Appraisal” consuming the “Antique” buff, granting 10 Concerto Energy, respectable Resonance Energy, and a unique effect depending on which of the 4 “Antique’s” buffs she had active at the time. Here are the names of all 4 “Antique Appraisal” Attacks, and what they do:
Chime: Reduces enemy’s Vibration Strength substantially allowing for faster Stuns.
Ruyi: Deals the highest damage.
Ding: Disrupts enemy attacks and actions.
Mask: A ranged attack that displaces enemies hit but has the lowest damage.
All “Antique Appraisals” generate the same Resonance and Concerto Energy and have similar animation times, meaning which one you draw doesn't make or break combat in most scenarios.
Her Resonance Skill is definitely the easiest way to access “Antiques” but fortunately it’s far from the only one. Using either of her Intro skill or landing a successful Dodge Counter will grant “Lucky Draw” awarding a random “Antique” - ready for use in an empowered “Antique Appraisal” Basic Attack.
She can also gain access to “Lucky draw” through a combination of her 4 part Basic Attack combo and baseline Forte Gauge “Frost”, a resource exclusively built and spent by her Heavy and Basic Attacks. When hitting an enemy(s) with her Basic Attacks Youhu will accumulate “Frost”, and once the “Frost” Forte Gauge is fully filled up, she can perform Heavy Attack: Frostfall expending all “Frost" in order to gain Concerto Energy and most importantly “Lucky Draw”. Generally landing a full 4 part Basic Attack combo provides enough “Frost” in order to activate Frostfall opening up the following combo:
Basic P1
Basic P2
Basic P3
Basic P4
Heavy Attack: Frostfall
Enhanced Basic Attack: Antique Appraisal
This combo generates a significant amount of Concerto energy and is good for on-demand access to “Antiques” when you have no other abilities available, but since it takes up a substantial amount of field time to fully execute, tactical use is advised.
Alternatively, if you’re fine with sacrificing the damage, Energy, and Concerto from the Basic Attacks you can instead press and hold Youhu’s Heavy Attack to begin a channel that will quickly accumulate “Frost” which when full will allow for a Heavy Attack: Frostfall without requiring to perform a full Basic Attack combo, saving field time at the cost of resources & damage.
Her Resonance Liberation also grants “Antiques” but in a bit of a different way. When attacking with the Liberation a choice between all 4 “Antique Appraisal” types will be presented allowing you to choose the exact “Antique" you want giving you some control over the randomness in her kit.
The last piece of the puzzle is her Forte, which we’ve already covered in half earlier with “Frost”, the second half is a separate resource gauge called “Auspice” and is far more impactful as it directly interacts with her “Antique Appraisal” mechanic.
Every time she uses “Antique Appraisal" she gains an “Auspice” based on the “Antique” used, for a maximum of 4 “Auspices” that can be tracked above the Forte gauge. Upon gathering 4 “Auspices” she can execute “Poetic Essence” by pressing and holding the Basic Attack. Doing so consumes all “Auspices” to launch an attack generating 20 Concerto Energy, some Resonance Energy, restoring HP to all party members, and dealing Glacio damage. But wait there’s more! Similar to her Resonance skill “Poetic Essence” can gain extra benefits based on the types of the “Antiques" you convert to “Auspices” when you spend. In most cases the more “Auspices” you have of the same “Antique" type when using “Poetic Essence" the more/stronger benefits you can gain. Here are all the bonuses and rules to acquire them:
Free Verse: 4 “Auspices” of different types (1 + 1 + 1 + 1): Reduces enemy’s Vibration Strength substantially contributing to faster stuns.
Antithesis: 2 “Auspices” of the same type (2 + 1 + 1): Increase “Poetic Essence” DMG by 70%
Double Pun: 2 pairs of “Auspices” of the same type (2 + 2): Add an extra heal to the effect of “Poetic Essence”.
Triplet: 3 “Auspices” of the same type (3 + 1): Increase “Poetic Essence” DMG by 175%
4 “Auspices” of the same type (4): Gain the bonuses of Free Verse, Double Pun and Triplet.
Youhu has very little control over which “Auspices” she gains outside of the “Antique” selection mechanic on her Resonance Liberation. Because of this, it can pay off well to use your Liberation as the 3rd or 4th “Antique” in order to try for a better “Auspice” combo. With that said, which “Auspice” you end up triggering isn’t too impactful on her overall role in the team - as none of them impact her Resonance Energy or Concerto Energy generation.
Rounding off her kit, Youhu’s Inherent Skills grants her some nice perks. The first skill “Treasured Palace” adds a heal to each of Youhu’s “Antique Appraisal”, granting up to 30% of the heal generated by her standard Resonance Skill. The second is a 15% Glacio Damage boost upon casting her Intro for 14 seconds. The first improves her sustain capabilities nicely but since damage isn’t her priority, the 2nd isn’t quite as impactful.
To bring it all together, in order to achieve her game plan of generating Concerto as fast as possible - to execute her Outro quickly and ensure it stays active she should;
Keep Resonance Skill: Divination on cooldown at all times and follow it up with “Antique Appraisal” for burst concerto generation.
Utilize Intro Skill into “Antique appraisal” to generate the Concerto Energy needed to maintain Outro Buff more easily.
Aim to perform Dodge counters followed by “Antique Appraisal” whenever she has field time and it’s convenient to do so.
When building Concerto Energy for the first use of Outro skill or when missing Concerto Energy to maintain it, use either a full combo of Basic Attacks into a Heavy Attack: Frostfall and “Antique Appraisal" or skip the Basic Attacks by holding Heavy Attack in place of them.
Use Resonance Liberation when available, preferably as the 3rd or 4th “Auspice” to gain a better shot at a beneficial buff.
Use “Poetic Essence” as soon as you have 4 “Auspice”.
All in all, Youhu is a solid support in general thanks to her healing and Echo choices and also has a strong niche thanks to her huge coordinated attack amplification. With that said her attacks are on the slower end - it takes more work to generate the Concerto she needs compared to other supports and she lacks the selection of coordinated damage dealers to support at the time of her release. Weighing up both sides Youhu stands as a competent but specialized choice with potential to grow with further support to the coordinated attack archetype, specifically for primary DPS.
This tier list assesses characters based on their combat potential in Wuthering Waves current most demanding content Tower of Adversity (ToA). ToA is a mode similar to Genshin Impact’s Spiral Abyss or Honkai Star Rail’s Memory of Chaos and requires multiple teams, strong Echoes and good Weapons. This mode offers a reasonable mix of Boss encounters (single target), Elite packs (2-3 targets) and AoE scenarios (5+ Targets), allowing multiple characters to find a niche but in the end, there's a bias toward single target focused characters at the top-end.
Please keep in mind Wuthering Waves is a skill-based game and each character has a different playstyle, difficulty level and even special tricks and combos. Wuthering Waves is also a team based game and it's only by combining both these factors to the highest level a character can reach optimal performance.

Echoes in Wuthering Waves are an essential part of the character rotations, granting a large amount of Resonance Energy and damage but at the cost of high field time for the most powerful ones. But by using some Echoes right before you're about to switch out on the character, you're able to move to your next character while your previous one is still in the echo animation - it’s what we call an Echo Swap Cancel.
Echo Swap Cancel is almost always the optimal way to use Echoes, and will result in big reductions in character field time and large increases to DPS, but not all of the most powerful Echoes can be swap cancelled in this way. For example, the Feilian Beringal (Aero), Dreamless (Havoc), Tempest Mephis (Electro), Mourning Aix (Spectro), and Infernal Rider (Fusion) Echoes can all be Swap Cancelled.
The remaining element, so Glacio while having powerful Echoes has none powerful enough that can be swap cancelled, and to make things worse, no Echoes that generate sufficient Energy and damage for their field time investment.
The result of this is that you can expect Glacio characters to have higher field time and lower DPS in calculations than their other elemental counter parts until they receive better Echoes to use.
Rejuvenating Glow
One of two main Echo choice for Youhu. Grants 10% increased Energy Regeneration for Youhu herself and a team wide 10% ATK boost on use for 20 seconds. A strong option for those looking to generate as much energy as possible on Youhu or who favor a more permanent party buffing effect compared to Bell-Borne Geochelone.
This Echo is an essential asset that almost every team in the game aims to include thanks to its excellent offensive and defensive benefits. The reason for this is the excellent 10% DMG boost it provides throughout its duration but also 50% damage reduction barrier it provides as well. The only catch these buffs have is that they only last for 3 hits meaning after you've taken them you'll lose the buff until you can re-apply it again - even so almost every team aims to have 1 user of this echo. Almost always the main echo of choice for users of the 5P Rejuvenating Glow set.
Substats: Energy Regeneration (Until satisfied) = ATK% > FLAT ATK
Important! CRIT DMG has base value of 150% and Energy Regen has a base value of 100% when you check them in game. The recommended values below don't include the base value but rather show how much on top of it you need to obtain.
ATK: 1600 - 2000+
HP: 14500+
DEF: 1000+
Energy Regen: ~60%+ (Can get away with less but may also want more)
The amount of ER Youhu needs depends on how much field time you grant her, the Weapon she has equipped, and the main Echo she is using (Bellborne vs Falacy).
As a general rule, 60% is a safe bet to ensure you have smooth access to her Liberation but you can absolutely get away with less and conversely you may want to stack more as there isn't much else for Youhu to allocate her Echo Sub and Main Stats towards other than Energy and boosting her Healing via ATK%.
Below you can find the order of leveling the abilities for Youhu.

Youhu has no specific set rotation in combat, but here are some tips how to play her:
As a coordinated attack buffing specialist it should be no surprise that youhu synergizes very nicely with all of the top meta Coordinated Attack focused damage dealers like Mortefi, Yinlin and Zhezhi. All three of these characters aren't the main damage dealers of their respective top teams but thanks to Youhu's 100% damage amplification their damage contribution can be substantially boosted resulting in a nice overall team damage boost.
