Jiyan has increased Anti-interruption; Basic Attack, Heavy Attack and Dodge Counter are replaced with Heavy Attack Lance of Qingloong.
Perform up to 3 continuous attacks, dealing Aero DMG, considered as Heavy Attack damage.
Qingloong at War
When casting Resonance Skill Windqueller, if Jiyan has 30 or more "Resolve", he consumes 30 "Resolve" to increase the damage of this Resonance Skill Windqueller by 20%. When Jiyan is in Qingloong Mode, DMG of Resonance Skill Windqueller is increased by 20% and no longer consumes "Resolve".

When casting Resonance Skill Windqueller, Resonance Liberation Emerald Storm: Prelude, Resonance Skill Emerald Storm: Finale or Intro Skill Tactical Strike, Jiyan's Crit. Rate is increased by 16% and Crit. DMG is increased by 32% for 8s.
Sequence Node 4
When casting Resonance Liberation Emerald Storm: Prelude or Resonance Liberation Emerald Storm: Finale, the Heavy Attack DMG Bonus of all team members is increased by 25% for 30s.
Sequence Node 5
The DMG multiplier of Outro Skill Discipline is increased by 120%. When Jiyan's attacks hit a target, his ATK is increased by 3% for 8s, stacking up to 15 times; this effect is immediately maxed after he casts Intro Skill Tactical Strike.
Sequence Node 6
Every time Heavy Attack, Intro Skill Tactical Strike or Resonance Skill Windqueller is used, Jiyan gains 1 stack(s) of "Momentum", stacking up to 2 times.
Resonance Liberation Emerald Storm: Finale will consume all "Momentum", and each stack consumed increases the DMG multiplier of Resonance Liberation Emerald Storm: Finale by 120%.

Incredible Burst Damage during Ultimate
One of the best AoE DPS characters in the game
Can gather and crowd control enemies constantly during ultimate
Can constantly parry most elite and boss enemies during main combo
Easy and straightforward to play
Scales insanely well with sequences if you want to invest more into him
Completely Ultimate reliant with all his meaningful damage occurring during his ultimate window
Without correct cooldown management and energy regeneration will feel clunky to play as Ultimate will not be ready in time.
Jiyan is a 5-star Aero Broadblade wielding DPS that excels at AoE damage and is best suited for Hyper Carry teams as the majority of his damage potential is tied to his Ultimate burst window. Buffing this Ultimate window up as much as possible is incredibly potent and should be your focus when playing Jiyan. Jiyan doesn’t have much to benefit from swap canceling any of his abilities especially during his ultimate burst window. Such tactics often result in a damage loss for Jiyan during said ultimate, as such Quick-Swap teams have little to offer him.
Jiyan recharges his Forte Gauge with his Basic Attacks and Intro Skill accumulating Resolve. You can use 30 points (half bar) of Resolve to enhance either his Resonance Skill increasing its damage dealt by 20% or enhance his Ultimate by incorporating a massive draconic strike to it upon its activation. It is advised strongly to keep Resolve to execute this empowered Ultimate instead compared to enhancing his Resonance Skill, which gives a mediocre result.
His Resonance Skill is a simple spear thrust combining a forward dash with a good amount of Aero Damage and generating decent Concerto Energy and Resonance Energy.
Jiyan’s Ultimate Skill makes him enter Qingloong mode, which enhances his standard Basic Attack combo, Heavy Attacks as well as Dodge Counter into a 3 part Heavy Attack Combo named Lance of Qingloong. This summons a gigantic dragon with each executed attack that revolves around Jiyan dealing damage 8 times per attack, as well as sweeping all enemies (excluding most elites, all boss monsters and rooted enemies) into air making them move with the summoned dragon. While in this mode, he is less likely to be stunned or launched owing to increased anti-interruption; thanks to this combined with its massive range and immobilization abilities, his Ultimate Skill is incredibly strong offensively as well as defensively.
Jiyan spends the entire duration of his Ultimate Skill on field in order to maximize his DPS, after which he can leave, allowing other characters to step in. However you will still want to switch him in often to cast his low CD Resonance skill to generate enough Resonance Energy to recast his Ultimate in a timely manner. Due to this field time requirement, he needs to be used in Hyper Carry compositions. In return, he brings enormous AoE as well as ST damage to battles during his Ultimate Skill burst rotation while simultaneously inflicting crowd control on most of his enemies and parrying those he can’t, making him a force to be reckoned with.
Considering all he brings to the table, he is extremely easy to play. To attain his incredible DPS output during his burst window, all you need to ensure is that he has all the buffs he requires prior to its casting and that he is generating enough Resonance Energy to recast it as required.
As is appropriate for his Main DPS build, Jiyan aims to maximize his DPS by utilizing damage-focused Echo and set combo.
Overall, Jiyan is currently one of the best DPS for Tower of Adversary and is extremely unlikely to phase out of meta anytime soon, owing to his very strong niche of combined ST and AoE DPS skills complete with crowd control abilities.
This tier list assesses characters based on their combat potential in Wuthering Waves current most demanding content Tower of Adversity (ToA). ToA is a mode similar to Genshin Impact’s Spiral Abyss or Honkai Star Rail’s Memory of Chaos and requires multiple teams, strong Echoes and good Weapons. This mode offers a reasonable mix of Boss encounters (single target), Elite packs (2-3 targets) and AoE scenarios (5+ Targets), allowing multiple characters to find a niche but in the end, there's a bias toward single target focused characters at the top-end.
Please keep in mind Wuthering Waves is a skill-based game and each character has a different playstyle, difficulty level and even special tricks and combos. Wuthering Waves is also a team based game and it's only by combining both these factors to the highest level a character can reach optimal performance.

Echoes in Wuthering Waves are an essential part of the character rotations, granting a large amount of Resonance Energy and damage but at the cost of high field time for the most powerful ones. But by using some Echoes right before you're about to switch out on the character, you're able to move to your next character while your previous one is still in the echo animation - it’s what we call an Echo Swap Cancel.
Echo Swap Cancel is almost always the optimal way to use Echoes, and will result in big reductions in character field time and large increases to DPS, but not all of the most powerful Echoes can be swap cancelled in this way. For example, the Feilian Beringal (Aero), Dreamless (Havoc), Tempest Mephis (Electro), Mourning Aix (Spectro), and Infernal Rider (Fusion) Echoes can all be Swap Cancelled.
The remaining element, so Glacio while having powerful Echoes has none powerful enough that can be swap cancelled, and to make things worse, no Echoes that generate sufficient Energy and damage for their field time investment.
The result of this is that you can expect Glacio characters to have higher field time and lower DPS in calculations than their other elemental counter parts until they receive better Echoes to use.
Sierra Gale
One of the best pure DPS echos in the game, capable of dealing good damage while also being swap cancelled and still granting it's boosting effect. Use this echo in the warm-up phase just moments before you plan to enter your Main DPS burst window and swap cancel it after it performs its first punch (it will continue and use the follow-up even after you switch). After that trigger your Hybrid or Supports concerto and then swap back to your damage dealer to perform your rotation with the buff active.
Lingering Tunes
Very easy echo to use that should be used at the very beginning of the burst window right after the Intro. Thanks to its instant cast there is no thinking required and you can enjoy your ATK% boost and some nice burst damage.
Substats: Energy Regeneration (Until Breakpoint) >= CRIT RATE = CRIT DMG > ATK% > Flat ATK = Heavy DMG%
If you want to learn more about the various stats and breakpoints, expand the section below.
4 cost - CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > ATK%
CRIT RATE% and CRIT DMG% can each outperform each other in this slot depending on your current CRIT ratio - aim to have 1% CRIT RATE per 2% CRIT DMG.
With most weapons in the game currently, CRIT RATE will be the best choice but if you are using a weapon that grants CRIT RATE already, CRIT DMG% can pull ahead.
Slightly behind in the performance of both of these is ATK% - it's a downgrade but still viable if you get good sub-stats on it.
3 cost - Aero DMG%
Having at least one Aero DMG% is highly recommended. Going without one is a sustainable damage loss.
3 cost - Aero DMG% = Energy Regen >= ATK%
A flexible slot that is most optimally used for additional Aero DMG% but if your Jiyan is lacking Energy Regen to get his ultimate back in time, grab ER instead.
If you're lacking a 2nd good Aero DMG% piece but have a great ATK% piece it can be a good substitute in the meantime.
1 cost - ATK%
Best in slot.
Important! CRIT DMG has base value of 150% and Energy Regen has a base value of 100% when you check them in game. The recommended values below don't include the base value but rather show how much on top of it you need to obtain.
ATK: 2000-2400+
HP: 15000+
DEF: 1200+
AERO DMG%: 40%-70%+
CRIT RATE%: 50-75%+
CRIT DMG% 100-150%+
Energy Regeneration (Minimum): 15-25% - Jiyan is a character that lives or dies by his ultimate and not having it up at the right opportunity can mean tanking his DPS into the floor. Having said that, you can get away with running less Energy Regeneration on him. If you're comfortable in fully landing the majority of your entire burst combo, your echo, AND landing a minimum of 1 (but ideally 2) skills in the warm-up phase go for this energy recharge range.
Energy Regeneration (Conservative): 25-40% - If you want some insurance for when a portion of your burst doesn't hit due to a boss dodging or flying away and or you're not confident in consistently hitting your Echo or 1-2 skills in the warm-up phase go for this energy recharge range instead.

This is the optimal rotation for the character. The total time needed to perform it is 12.17 seconds. When selecting the rotations we prioritized achieving 100 Concerto as fast as possible and once that condition was fulfilled, we focused on maximizing the damage output. As or if new and more optimal rotations are found, we'll update the characters calculations as needed.
WARM UP
While waiting for cooldowns to reset, building energy for Jiyan and cycling through your team for Concerto generation, aim to execute the following warm-up moves:
- Keep Jiyan’s Resonance Skill on cooldown always outside your burst window, as it generates massive Resonance Energy.
- Jiyan’s Echo should be used in the warm-up phase but right before his Ultimate usage, so you get Echo buff without reducing time in his Ultimate burst window.
BURST COMBO
Jiyan’s enhanced Basic Attack, Lance of Qinglong only deals damage, when Jiyan is executing the animation associated, afterwards despite animation continuing on its own, it deals no damage. As such, Dash-Canceling Lance or interrupting it with another skill, allows you to exit the animation state, securing any damage done so far while forgoing any further damage. His Ultimate duration allows for either 6 Lance’s + Skill or 7 Lance’s before being left with little duration, to maximize gain from this duration, we start and cancel another Lance of Qinglong, gaining a bit of damage at cost of minimum rotation time. It can be seen as executing 6 Lance’s, a skill and small portion of 7th Lance of Qinglong with this trick, however it can be ignored if desired, for it is minimal damage gain.

- Outro
Mortefi excels at buffing Heavy ATK DMG with his "Deepen" Outro which acts as an immense multiplier thanks to the special "Deepen" scaling mechanic. Jiyan demands high field time and Mortefi takes up very little, making the pair an ideal combo of burst and buffs with plenty of wiggle room to fit in a support or some extra action on Jiyan while waiting for cooldowns or energy to recharge.
Mortefi's Ultimate unleashes a slew of Coordinated Attacks over its duration but requires a high hit counter to maximize the effect. During his ultimate, Jiyan attacks 8 times per dragon strike easily maxing out this requirement. Mortefi's ultimate also fires 2 Coordinated Attacks instead of 1 when the triggering hit is a Heavy Attack - all of which Jiyan's empowered dragon strikes are in his ultimate.
Aalto isn't Jiyan's best support but he certainly gets the job done coming close enough to the total team damage output of Mortefi teams when all units are at S0 albeit with a few downsides.
Aalto's main claim to fame is his 23% Aero DMG Deepen buff that like Mortefi's is a special multiplier boosting up Jiyan's entire burst window. This alone matches the Heavy Deepen bonus from Mortefi as not all of Jiyan's attacks are Heavy but all of them are Aero. While Aalto's Aero buff is excellent, he doesn't have many other damage focused synergies with Jiyan and has a slightly longer rotation, requires some positional maneuvering around his Gates and is harder to play overall. If you like Aalto and or don't like or get Mortefi he is a good substitute.
Verina as a healing support can easily accommodate running the 5P Rejuvenating Glow set alongside a Bell-Borne Geochelone echo, offering the team a wide array of offensive and defensive buffs already bringing a tonne of worth just from that alone.
Additionally Verina's many rotational options to access her Ultimate and Concerto are all fast and relatively easy to execute, leaving ample field time for the rest of team mates to execute their combos. Verina's Outro is by far the most flexible and powerful Outro in the game granting all allies 15% generic DMG% "Deepen" for 30 seconds. Most units only grant 1 type and only for the very next unit to switch in locking them into staying on field less they lose the buff but Verina grants it to all allies completely unrestricted.
On top of this Verina grants an additional 20% ATK and a Cheat Death ability preventing one death every 10 minutes. She's universal, flexible, takes little field time and outstanding in every team.
Shorekeeper is incredibly flexible thanks to her generic buffs, lingering Outro amplification and relatively low field time requirements after her first rotation. Because of she she can be played as a support in most team compositions to great effect.
Calculations
Don't use the damage output calculations as an indication on who is worth pulling or investing as those are just simulations and in day-to-day gameplay there's a lot variables and also the skill of the player is important - if you can't consistently perform the character's rotation, their damage will suffer.
As usual, don't compare the numbers between characters - especially between Main DPS and Hybrids as they fulfill different roles in the team.
The numbers below show the character's DPS (Damage Per Second) and DMG (total damage done). When selecting the rotations we prioritized achieving 100 Concerto as fast as possible and once that condition was fulfilled, we focused on maximizing the damage output. As or if new and more optimal rotations are found, we'll update the characters calculations as needed. Listed character calculations are done without buffs or any damage contribution from teammates (full solo). They only include what the character, their Weapon, Echo and gear are capable of during their ideal Burst or Concerto rotation when starting with their Intro and Resonance Liberation available.
Rotation time: 12.17s
Here's the rotation we have used to calculate the DPS (Damage Per Second) shown above. The total time needed to perform the rotation is 12.17 seconds.
