Ms. NewBabel is a 6✦ rarity character from the Mineral afflatus who deals Reality damage and belongs to the Survival class.

Ms. NewBabel is a tank capable of redirecting damage to herself with her Ultimate and providing consistent Shields for her allies. Though originally considered a sub-par unit, her Euphoria buff has transformed her into a near-unkillable shielder and an extra action machine. As she grants Crit Rate that scales off of shield strength and her shield stacks with pre-existing shields, she works well with other shielders. Also consider pairing her with teammates who benefit from frequent extra actions.

Review

Ms. Newbabel has a rather unique kit, even among the defense oriented characters. For starters, she's the only one with a built-in Taunt, Counter, and Follow-Up attack all in one ability, her Ultimate, lasting two turns. This can be very useful to keep the enemy's attention away from your squishy Damage Dealers, but requires some practice and strategizing to keep a good upcycle.

When bringing Ms. Newbabel along, her primary function is to keep shields up as often as possible. The difference from other shielders being, if you manage to get her skill “Old Idea” at level 2 or above, use it to gain extra Moxie and charge her Ultimate even faster.

For most content, characters extremely focused on the defensive aspect may not be needed, but Ms. Newbabel's unique traits can make her relevant on some of the hardest content. In later levels of the UTTU challenge, there are very useful cards who take advantage of follow-up attacks, something hard to find. Not to mention, enemies start to hit really hard, and healers struggle to keep themselves and the rest of the team alive. The same goes for later stages of Limbo and Mane's Bulletin.

Pros & Cons

Pros

Extremely high Reality DEF, which can get increased further through her passives.
Has a good ultimate cycle, keeping teammates out of harm and taking advantage of being targeted to stack her passive faster.
Euphoria 1: Hugely amplifies her kit. Allows her auto-use her shield Incantation, while also letting it increase the HP of already present shields. Beyond that she can increase allied Crit Rate, cast more ripostes and use a bunch of extra actions. This slots her well into FUA, Extra Action and HP Loss teams and makes her the best shielder in the game by far.

Cons

Doesn't deal much damage.
Very niche character, not new-player friendly.

Off the Scene is Euphoria Ms. NewBabel's best psychube. It increases all allies' DMG Dealt by 1–2% for every buff incantation NewBabel casts (including her extra actions) and also increases her shield strength by granting her 18–36% Reality DEF. 8% HP is ok—it helps her survivability.

Approaching Rain is pre-Euphoria Ms. NewBabel's pick. 18% Incantation Might and 30–60% Genesis DMG Dealt is fantastic for her ripostes. The 10–20% DMG Heal on ultimate is also great because she applies [Taunt] on herself.

Outside the City is great for a crit-based damage build. After 10 of her 1-target ripostes, this psychube grants 12% Critical Rate and 20–50% Critical DMG on top of its base 16% Critical Rate.

Silent and Adoring also buffs her riposte damage with its 12% DMG Bonus and 10–50% Genesis DMG Bonus.

Remaining Absurdity is another 5* with Reality DEF (8%). It also grants 10–20% Incantation Might if you have a shield active.

Focused around getting J to as low as he can possibly go on HP values to maximize the DMG output of his "Tempering" counterattack. This is supported by Ms Newbabel(E), who easily doubles the size of his shields (to prevent the team from dying) while both Semmelweis and Eternity help lower J's HP while providing various buffs (Semmelweis through her Array and Eternity through her Euphoria) that scale with HP Lost.
