Rowan is a S-Rank Lightbearer Support who specializes in charging ally Energy, allowing them to use their Ultimates faster. This makes him one of the best supports in the game, and his utility ensures he remains viable across all game modes for a long time.

Fatal Greed is his Ultimate ability, which allows him to move a tile or so and shower nearby allies with Energy, helping them use their Ultimates faster. This Ultimate offers a wide range of use cases and synergies. To facilitate the use of Fatal Greed, Rowan starts with 400 Energy and has Quack Waltz, a low-cooldown ability that deals damage and absorbs an additional 70 Energy.

Rowan also provides utility through his Smart Stall where he stores 2 Health Potions, which activate when an ally’s HP drops below 50%. This can heal the same ally again after a short cooldown. Additionally, Rowan stores an Energy potion that an ally can use once their Energy reaches 600, enabling them to unleash their Ultimate immediately. If there's no Health Potions left on Smart Stall, casting Quack Waltz will replenish a Health Potion up to 3 times in battle.

Hero Focus of Haste which increases further each time he retrieves a Health Potion through Quack Waltz. This added Haste allows Rowan to use Quack Waltz more often and gives him more Energy, enabling him to cast Fatal Greed more frequently to support his allies effectively. Upon unlocking Mythic+, after Rowan uses 3 Health Potions on allies, he places a Super Health Potion that restores more HP and permanently boosts the ally's defensive stats. At Supreme+, Rowan starts the battle with an additional Health Potion.

Performance in Various Game Modes:
  • Story and AFK/Talent Stages - This is where Rowan shines the most, as the ability to help allies consistently use their Ultimates can make or break a team in high-deficit AFK Stages.

  • Dream Realm - Rowan isn't a top pick here, as there are better options for directly boosting damage, which is often crucial for Bossing. However, he's not entirely useless and can still provide utility in certain situations.

  • PVP - Rowan is still pretty viable in PVP for his utility, more often so in Supreme Arena more than PVP Arena. In PVP Arena he is too slow to get immediate value from his utility where in Supreme Arena where you can have more leeway with Mauler or Lightbearer focused teams.

  • Battle Drills - Rowan is a decent choice here due to his Energy-boosting utility, though he isn’t always the first pick. Overall, he can still perform well in this game mode.

Conclusion

Rowan is a great hero even at base with no dupes, but investing in him is highly recommended. Unlocking Mythic+ grants him the Super Health Potion. Leveling his EX Weapon to +10 allows Quack Waltz to replenish a Super Health Potion once instead of a normal one. Supreme+ is more of an enabler for him to heal allies more frequently and start battles with his Mythic+ ability already placing a Super Health Potion.

Guides

EX Investment

Since the

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
and
Twilight Essence
Twilight Essence
are very hard to obtain, you have to be really careful with the using them to upgrade the EX weapon. And in this guide we ordered all characters by the priority when it comes to how much they need investment in their EX weapon to work well and where should you stop to get the best bang for your buck.

Why does the +8 breakpoint appear so often?

Because the raw stats you get from upgrading the EX weapon help you more than the passive in some cases. Also, to upgrade the EX from +5 to +8 you need only 30x

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
, while the remaining two levels require additional 45x
Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
. So you get the best bang for your buck stopping at +8.

Color explanation:

  • +0 - the base investment for the character,
  • +5/8 - the next step that you should do when investing into that character,
  • +10/15 - the final step you should do when investing into that character - you can go beyond that later though once you have the Essences to spare.
