Rowan is an S-Level Support of the Lightbearer faction. His kit revolves around applying healing and playing with Energy generation, and he is considered one of the best Supports in the game.

Let's start with his Ultimate, "Fatal Greed", which prompts Rowan to start throwing coins in an area around him that provides surrounding allies with a large amount of Energy over the course of the cast. This is the main reason why people use him, as he allows his team (especially Mages) to quickly generate Energy and run their Ultimates before enemies do.

His "Smart Stall" skill, passively generates an amount of health potions on Rowan's stall that he throws at allies that drop below half HP, healing them in a single-target burst. At higher levels, Rowan starts bringing an Energy potion to the battle as well, providing an additional burst of Energy the first time an ally breaches a certain threshold. This both grants Rowan almost unmatched spot-healing, it is also great for ensuring your team casts the first Ultimate.

On the other hand, "Quack Waltz", is less impressive. It sends Rowan's duck to deal damage and absorb some Energy from the target. At later levels, however, if the skill is used while "Smart Stall" is empty, it instead replenishes a health potion immediately (can only occur every 3 casts).

Rowan's Exclusive Weapon unlocks the "Great Bargain" skill, which causes Rowan, after using 3 of his health potions, to place down a super health potion that restores an increased amount of HP and also permanently grants the target that takes it extra Phys and Magic DEF. At +10, the first time "Quack Waltz" is used to restore a health potion, it will be a super health potion. This dramatically increases Rowan's healing capabilities and also helps him keep the tank alive through extended fights (something Rowan historically struggled with due to the cooldown on his healing).

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • High single-target healing.

  • One of the few characters that can grant other allies Energy, ensuring that your team casts their Ultimates earlier than the opponent does.

Cons

  • Lightbearer faction so he gets obliterated by Silvina.

  • Very weak AoE healing, so he can't keep the team alive when facing AoE-focused enemy teams.

EX Investment

Since the

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
and
Twilight Essence
Twilight Essence
are very hard to obtain, you have to be really careful with the using them to upgrade the EX weapon. And in this guide we ordered all characters by the priority when it comes to how much they need investment in their EX weapon to work well and where should you stop to get the best bang for your buck.

Why does the +8 breakpoint appear so often?

Because the raw stats you get from upgrading the EX weapon help you more than the passive in some cases. Also, to upgrade the EX from +5 to +8 you need only 30x

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
, while the remaining two levels require additional 45x
Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
. So you get the best bang for your buck stopping at +8.

Color explanation:

  • +0 - the base investment for the character,
  • +5/8 - the next step that you should do when investing into that character,
  • +10/15 - the final step you should do when investing into that character - you can go beyond that later though once you have the Essences to spare.
