Odie is an A-Level Marksman of the Maulers faction. Being focused primarily on high continuous damage with his trademark Dart Poison effect and the single-target orientation of his kit, he is found suitable against high HP targets or bosses.

The basis of his kit is his Dart Poison, which causes his basic attacks to inflict a damage over time effect on their target. Dart Poison isn't explained anywhere in his kit, but all of his skills interact with it in one way or another.

"Natural Hunter" allows him to permanently increase the damage over time a poisoned target takes, while his "Triple Tap" skill allows him to quickly apply Dart Poison to his target. There isn't much going on mechanically, and it may seem like Odie isn't doing much in the moment, but he has a tendency to surprise people with the amount of damage he deals over the course of extended fights.

His Ultimate: "Corrosive Dart" is a single-target hit that also applies Dart Poison, which may sound underwhelming at the moment, but it becomes one of the strongest tools for clearing AFK Stages later on. When his poisoned target is defeated, Odie also gains a massive burst of Energy, allowing him to quickly spam his Ultimate if enemies are being killed.

This all becomes makes sense when reading into his Exclusive Weapon: "Heart Crusher". Once unlocked, when an enemy falls below a certain HP threshold determined by Dart Poison's base damage, it executes the target.

This is what makes Odie especially powerful. Keeping the benefits he gets from defeating an opponent in mind, Odie turns into a monster of a clearer when his EX is unlocked, snowballing off of a single kill, with additional niches in single-target content like Dream Realm. Odie is a highly versatile and viable late-game DPS that fits especially well into most teams that struggle against tanks. Being an A-Level character and available in the Dream Realm store also makes him easy to upgrade.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Incredibly high and consistent single-target damage output.

  • Versatile in terms of teambuilding options - doesn't really need anything specific to work.

  • Can execute low-health targets (yes, also Dream Realm bosses).

Cons

  • Most of his power is locked behind his Exclusive Weapon which may take some time to get if you're a non-spender.

  • Provides only damage and nothing else (but provides A LOT of it).

EX Investment

Since the

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
and
Twilight Essence
Twilight Essence
are very hard to obtain, you have to be really careful with the using them to upgrade the EX weapon. And in this guide we ordered all characters by the priority when it comes to how much they need investment in their EX weapon to work well and where should you stop to get the best bang for your buck.

Why does the +8 breakpoint appear so often?

Because the raw stats you get from upgrading the EX weapon help you more than the passive in some cases. Also, to upgrade the EX from +5 to +8 you need only 30x

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
, while the remaining two levels require additional 45x
Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
. So you get the best bang for your buck stopping at +8.

Color explanation:

  • +0 - the base investment for the character,
  • +5/8 - the next step that you should do when investing into that character,
  • +10/15 - the final step you should do when investing into that character - you can go beyond that later though once you have the Essences to spare.
