Review

Grannie Dahnie is an S-Level Tank of the Wilder Faction. Her kit revolves around either debuffing enemy movement/cooldowns or buffing her own tankiness, with plenty of both to boot.

Her Ultimate, "Treshold of Jade", roots all nearby enemies for a considerable amount of time, causing her to self-heal in the process. It is great at locking down melee teams or preventing pesky frontliners like Thoran and Temesia from doing what they do best.

On the other hand are her skills, one of them procs when an enemy deals damage to her, inflicting a debuff that decreases their Haste by a considerable amount, while the other inflicts a nasty Taunt that also heals herself. Through these and her Ultimate she has many ways of preventing enemies from doing what they want, perfect for a Tank to have. Her Exclusive Weapon also unlocks the "Glimmerbloom Blessings" skill, which greatly increases Granny's DEF stats while also granting her constant regeneration when she drops below 50% HP.

Conclusion

Standing forever in Thoran's shadow despite being a better Tank than him is a wild fate to have.

Between a very consistent AoE Root, massive consistent Haste debuff, and decent Taunt, Dahnie is going to be a very effective tank. These qualities alone would be pretty decent on a crowd control based unit, though they'd need some really solid defensive assets to make it work... Which is exactly what they gave Granny! The healing generated from her Ultimate and the immense defensive boosts that proc the moment she drops below half health all allow her to stay healthy and do her job as tank, and even her Hero Focus / Enhance Force are dedicated to making her harder to kill, increasing her Vitality and granting her small but consistent self-healing respectively.

Is she better than Thoran? Well, that's not really a question to ask. Thoran's kit is dedicated to being hard to get rid of and his insanely high damage ceiling, however, his resurrection is still incredibly inconvenient in high-difficulty stages, while Granny Dahnie is both from a faction that is very good at keeping others alive (Damian, Hewynn) and is an expert at disrupting enemies while also keeping herself safe.

Seasonal Skill: Lock-On Projectiles

Works great in the teams that she is good on (usually teams revolving around a combination of Eironn, Arden and/or Carolina), but this doesn't proc all that much on teams that aren't dedicated to crowd control.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Has everything a tank needs - Taunt, self-healing, damage reduction,

  • A lot of CC, allowing her to synergize with units that can abuse it.

  • Available in the shop, so easy to raise.

Cons

  • Needs dupes to shine - without them, she often gets one-shot before her passives triggers.

Guides

EX Investment

Since the

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
and
Twilight Essence
Twilight Essence
are very hard to obtain, you have to be really careful with the using them to upgrade the EX weapon. And in this guide we ordered all characters by the priority when it comes to how much they need investment in their EX weapon to work well and where should you stop to get the best bang for your buck.

Why does the +8 breakpoint appear so often?

Because the raw stats you get from upgrading the EX weapon help you more than the passive in some cases. Also, to upgrade the EX from +5 to +8 you need only 30x

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
, while the remaining two levels require additional 45x
Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
. So you get the best bang for your buck stopping at +8.

Color explanation:

  • +0 - the base investment for the character,
  • +5/8 - the next step that you should do when investing into that character,
  • +10/15 - the final step you should do when investing into that character - you can go beyond that later though once you have the Essences to spare.
