Eironn is an S-Level Assassin of the Wilder faction. While he is an Assassin in class, he lacks the classically single-target burst damage expected of one, and instead focuses on AoE burst in addition to debuffing and especially crowd control.

His "Ice Spike" skill reduces Haste and MDEF in an AoE. It's nice, it's simple and it's effective, benefitting especially characters who deal Magic Damage and helping your tank beat the enemy tank. On the other hand "Elemental Barrier" grants Eironn a shield and additional Dodge Rate while said shield is active, allowing him some survivability until he is able to cast his Ultimate.

His Ultimate, "Elemental Realm" is the scariest part of his kit. He drags all enemies within 2 tiles of his selected one to the targeted tile before creating an explosion that immobilizes them for a short duration. Normally, this would take too long to build up, but his Exclusive Weapon unlocks "Howling Hurricane", which allows Eironn to execute a cast of "Elemental Realm" at 0 Energy (meaning he instantly casts it at the start of the battle, though it does less damage).

The reduced damage isn't much of a problem, as the reason "Elemental Realm" is so good is because of the draw-in and immobilize effect. Getting a free cast at the start of the battle thusly ruins any team comp that relies on units that want to cast their Ultimate, as they're immediately pulled in and interrupted.

Overall Eironn is one of the zero to hero type characters. Early on he feels terrible to use, but once you unlock his EX weapon and build a team focused that can abuse his CC, he becomes part of the currently best meta PVP team (with Carolina and Arden). Though the team can also be used with success in various PVE Content (excluding Dream Realm), it will take a while to get Eironn to Mythic+ as he's not available in any shop.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Extremely powerful crowd controller after EX, often the center of a team.

  • Great additional debuffs in the form of -Haste and -MDEF.

Cons

  • Basically useless before EX.

  • Shield isn't enough to keep him alive and he takes too long to build Ultimate.

EX Investment

Since the

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
and
Twilight Essence
Twilight Essence
are very hard to obtain, you have to be really careful with the using them to upgrade the EX weapon. And in this guide we ordered all characters by the priority when it comes to how much they need investment in their EX weapon to work well and where should you stop to get the best bang for your buck.

Why does the +8 breakpoint appear so often?

Because the raw stats you get from upgrading the EX weapon help you more than the passive in some cases. Also, to upgrade the EX from +5 to +8 you need only 30x

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
, while the remaining two levels require additional 45x
Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
. So you get the best bang for your buck stopping at +8.

Color explanation:

  • +0 - the base investment for the character,
  • +5/8 - the next step that you should do when investing into that character,
  • +10/15 - the final step you should do when investing into that character - you can go beyond that later though once you have the Essences to spare.
