Review
Athalia is an S-Level Rogue of the Celestial faction who specializes in quickly taking out the enemy carry, and reviving as a Lance and still being capable of doing damage after she dies.
Athalia’s Ultimate has both passive and active components. The passive ability is that Athalia revives as a Lance after death, but with 35% reduced attack. The active ability deals massive single target damage to the enemy carry, usually killing them outright in PVP.
Her first skill also deals high damage to the enemy carry, dealing damage similar to Vala’s Ultimate.
Her second skill allows her to strike adjacent enemies, dealing multiple low-damage hits, while reducing her damage taken and recovering HP.
Now, for a quick overview of her performance in the various game modes:
Story and AFK stages – While Athalia can deal decent damage at high investment, for Low Deficit stages, there is very little reason to run her instead of the usual AFK Stage staples due to lack of HP% damage causing her to fall off at High Deficit.
Dream Realm – Athalia’s kit is based on burst damage, while bosses favour sustained damage. Although she still deals Marilee-tier damage on most bosses, that is not good enough to justify adding her to Dream Realm teams in most situations.
PvP – Athalia’s kit offers a very valuable combination in PVP - Survivability, Burst Damage, and little Ultimate reliance. She can potentially snipe any enemy carry at the start of the battle, but that alone doesn’t make her the absolute menace that she is, as we already have Vala and Silvina who do the same. The fact that her kit remains powerful even with her Ultimate disabled, makes her extremely powerful when used alongside Dunlingr. While she can counter top contenders such as Cryonara or Dionel, there is some RNG involved, and the same characters can counter Athalia as long as they get their Ultimates out.
Investment
Athalia, being a DPS carry, does not work very well at 1 dupe.
Legendary+ gives her increased Crit.
Mythic+ adds an extra attack that deals damage in two straight paths to every second use of her sniping skill.
EX +15 massively increases the damage she deals to enemies below 50% HP, and also allows her to chain her sniping attacks after assisting/defeating an enemy or using her Ultimate.
Supreme+ gives sniping skill some Shield Pierce.
Recommended investing in her up to S+ EX+15, and from there, up to Paragons, as she is a Main DPS.
Conclusion
Athalia is a powerful and resilient assassin for PVP modes, but she does require a lot of investment to reach her maximum potential, including a fully maxed out niche Celestial PVP hero. Pull for her if you already had Dunlingr from running Dionel’s team, for example, as she is a whale’s choice, just like him. Outside that she is an easy skip for PVE modes.
Kit does not rely on Ultimates.
High Burst, Very good at sniping enemy carries in PVP.
Has Shield Pierce at S+.
Can continue fighting as a Lance after death.
Squishy, she and her team will die to enemy carries if they get their Ultimates out first.
High investment required, relies on Dunlingr for top PVP performance.
Poor PVE performance due to lack of HP% Damage
Has almost no CC in her kit
