With access to universal DEF shred and DMG taken debuffs, he can slot into Reality or Mental teams pretty easily. However, his main function is to deal damage by cycling his Ultimate. His Euphoria buff emphasizes his Ult spam strategy while allowing him to generate Moxie for the whole team, albeit randomly.

Review
Shamane is a 6-star Support of the Beast Afflatus. He is an all-rounder, bringing strong debuffs, decent damage and a bit of AP-generosity to the table. Using “Spirit Medium”, he is able to inflict -Reality/Mental DEF and +DMG Taken. Though this might remind you of Arcanists such as Bkornblume and Baby blue, Shamane trumps their versatility by shredding both DEF stats at once, vastly broadening his teambuilding options.
Utilizing his Insight 1, 3 and “Apprentice's Dance” skill, Shamane is able to stack up his [Nature's Blessing] buff. This buff is consumed when he casts his Ultimate, “Edict of Atman” to refund him an amount of Moxie proportional to the amount of consumed stacks. This means that when played properly, Shamane can cast “Edict of Atman” several times in a row, and with its increased base Crit Rate, he can do a deceptively high amount of damage.
Despite his formidable adaptability, there are arguments to be made against him. Regardless of the rank at which “Spirit Medium” is cast, it will always inflict -15% Reality/Mental DEF. Unlike Bkornblume who can shred up to 25% Reality DEF with her own debuff (though Shamane makes up for this with a massive +DMG Taken debuff that far exceeds other debuffers). His potential as a Carry is also not as high as a certain other Support, and he'll require Portrays if you want to use him as one. Despite this, Shamane performs at the top of the Support category, even if only for his versatility.
Extremely versatile debuffer that can perform in just about every general team.
Great burst cycle using [Nature’s Blessing].
Euphoria: Can be used in teams with Anjo Nala and Flutterpage to 1-turn cycle their Ultimates.
Doesn't shred as much Reality/Mental DEF as specialized debuffers.
Carry potential doesn't come online before Portray 2/5 (and even then could struggle against high Crit Res opponents).

Stats and Build
Prioritizes Critical Rate and Critical DMG. Shamane’s Ultimate has a Critical Rate bonus and converts Critical Rate to Critical DMG. His Moxie regeneration abilities at base and after his Euphoria buff allow him to cycle his Ultimate a lot, making Elucidation a no-brainer pick.
If you don’t have Resonance Patterns unlocked, try this build with Placidity:

The Carat of the Heart is Shamane's signature psychube and it works well for him both pre- and post-Euphoria. Since he cycles Moxie quickly with [Nature's Blessing] and [Rippling Energy], he can proc the 8–16% / 12–24% Ultimate Might consistently.
Brave New World remains one of his best options due to its 18% Ultimate Might and no Gluttony requirement for max amplification.
Never-ending Q&A is an interesting option for him; since he casts his ultimates frequently, he can stack up to 18–36% Critical DMG pretty quickly. No 1-target ultimate means no Ultimate Might, sadly.
Hopscotch is another cheap Fragment Shop psychube that works for long fights with small mobs to kill. With some setup, this psychube provides 16–32% Ultimate Might on top of its base 18% Incantation Might.
Her Second Life is better for a supportive Shamane build as it supplements his frequent ultimates with additional ATK-based healing.
