Introduction

ONiON is a 3✦ rarity character from the Mineral afflatus who deals Reality damage and belongs to the Sub DPS class.

ONiON is an extremely niche Sub-DPS with defensive options such as providing allies with a bit of damage reduction and gaining taunt. The problem is that her kit doesn't support the idea of a Tank, and steers in the direction of a Carry, without actually providing ONiON with any of the tools a Carry needs. That's why she is often regarded as the worst unit in the game.

Review

ONiON is a 3-star Mineral character whose tag claims her to be DPS and Debuff. However, due to her rarity, the DPS portion of her kit will not age very well into the late game. Both of her two skills are very similar to Leilani's, as they both deal extra damage if the target is under the effects of Stats Down, Neg Stats, or Control status.

However, unlike Leilani, she isn't as versatile. She cannot generate Moxie with her passive or ultimate like Leilani. Instead, her ultimate provides her with Taunt after casting it and reduces the damage she takes by 30%. Speaking of her ultimate, it's a mass attack that grants allies 2 stacks of Sturdiness.

While all of this may sound decent on paper, due to her low rarity and the fact that her kit as a whole doesn't synergize or benefit her very effectively, she ends up being a subpar defensive version of Leilani. The only advantage she has is that, being a low-rarity character, she is cheap to invest in. However, there are many 3-star or even 2-star options available that are worth investing in more. Of course, the Sturdiness aspect can be useful, but using a more dedicated survivability character would be more efficient.

As a 3-star character, she has an extremely low investment cost.

Cons

As a 3-star character, her stats are lower than those of most characters in the game, and her damage will fall off over time, similar to many other low-rarity characters.
An extremely confusing kit that can't seem to decide whether it wants to focus on damage or defense.
Her kit will not be as offensively useful as Leilani, nor will the sturdiness or taunt she provides outdo the performance of dedicated tank units like Oliver Fog or The Fool.
