Introduction

Blonney is a 5✦ rarity character from the Star afflatus who deals Reality damage and belongs to the Damage class.

A Crit-oriented DPS, Blonney relies on her Ultimate to provide the bulk of her damage. Her abundant access to Crit buffs allows her to output a surprisingly good amount of damage, though her lack of Moxie generation or Crit-Rate-to-Crit-DMG conversion hold her back. Blonney synergizes well with Crit and Reality supports.

Review

While most characters set up the stage to unleash the bulk of their damage with a flashy Ultimate, Blonney subverts the traditional carry playstyle, using her ultimate as a tool to set up her burst window instead.

You may be wondering, “Where's the catch?”. Well, for one, it comes with the set-up itself. Getting Blonney to gain enough Moxie for her Ultimate, all the while upgrading her cards for maximum burst, requires a certain amount of luck and may result in a couple of wasted turns. It also makes her quite AP-Hungry. If you do manage to get the swing of things, however, she can feel quite rewarding to play. Since the buff from the Ultimate lasts two rounds, sometimes you may even be able to unleash two or more burst windows in a row.

When not acting as the main damage dealer of the team, Blonney can take the role of a Sub-DPS / crit-support similarly to Matilda. Her skill “Chainsaw Massacre” can apply [Confusion] at rank 2 or above, and her own damage output is good enough to help finish off low HP enemies even without all that set up.

Pros

Extremely self-reliant, can reach 100% Crit Rate basically on her own.
Suprisingly high outgoing damage under her Ultimate's burst window.
Can function as an offensive Support due to her access to [Confusion].

Cons

Very AP-negative playstyle due to overreliance on Ultimate to set up damage and notable lack of ways to give herself Moxie.
Doesn't really provide anything but intermittent damage and [Confusion] as a Support. You'll find better options if you're looking for characters to help with Crits.

Since her ultimate already buffs both her Crit. Rate and Crit. DMG, as well as working as a set-up for her next skills, BNW has even more weight here. Blonney's ultimate may not deal much damage in itself, but since it is used as an opener for a burst window. If you have invested into BNW's Amplification passive, it will provide the biggest boon to Blonney's kit among the available options. “Hopscotch” is another safe choice to guarantee that Blonney will keep building up her damage regardless of crit. Aside from that, since Blonney is a crit-oriented character, “Thunderous Applause” is also a good option. “The Carat of the Heart” enters the hall if you're using her as your main damage dealer. She can become quite AP-Hungry, but at the same time generate lots of moxie in one round to quickly cycle her ultimate and burst windows. Take into consideration, however, that Blonney's own kit and teammates should already be enough to cover her critical needs. For this reason, these two Psychubes are less favored, unless dealing with enemies who have high Crit. Resistance.
