APPLe is the first free character you get when starting the game, with a nice balance of healing and damage that allows him to fit well in most team compositions. As one of the initial free characters, it is recommended to ascend APPLe at least to Insight 1 Level 1 as soon as possible. This is in order to complete the APPLe Beginning of the Tale missions (it gives you all the promotion resources back and more).

APPLe's main healing skill, “Equal Amount of Light” heals the ally with the lowest percentage of HP while also dealing some single-target damage. His Ultimate, “Insignificant Achievements” has a similar mechanic, but instead is a mass-attack, that heals the ally with the lowest HP percentage. This is a double-edged sword, as while having some extra damage is nice, APPLe's healing is weaker and less consistent than other healers, who have dedicated healing skills with bigger multipliers that heal the entire team.

In order to compensate for this, APPLe's Insight provides a passive healing based on Missing HP each round, which can be valuable as it will save you some AP. If you choose to invest on him further, APPLe's Insight 2 improves his healing by 10%, a welcome bonus that isn't enough to keep him on the same level as other dedicated healers. However, it ensures his space in teams who can benefit from his kit of mixed damage + passive sustain.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Free character with free Insight I

  • Versatile, can offer a mix of damage and sustain

  • Can heal passively, thus saving action points

  • Low rarity, cheap to build

Cons

  • Less effective in terms of healing compared to other dedicated healers

  • By having a mixed kit and role, doesn't excel in either damage or healing

  • Not recommended for boss fights, as his healing won't be able to keep up with burst damage, and his damage won't contribute much to the fight itself

  • His low rarity means he is very squishy

Ratings

Prioritizes ATK with a dash of DMG Taken Reduction. APPLe’s healing scales off of ATK and his low stats incentivize investing into his ATK as much as possible.

Comments

Her Second Life turns his ultimate's healing from single-target to AoE and increases his low ATK.

Belt It Out is a great supportive psychube that increases all Star-afflatus characters' DMG Dealt. Its increase to APPLe's personal ATK also boosts his ultimate and skill healing.

Melodies Old and New is another great supportive psychube; 3–9% DMG Bonus for the whole team and 12–16% Healing Bonus is a great way to make APPLe more useful.

Laughter and Laughter is completely free and super cheap to build. It takes some time to stack up, but nothing beats a cheap beginner build to get you through the early chapters of the game.

Take the Hard Journey increases his healing. APPLe's low DEF makes the passive healing bonus easy to trigger.

Despite having his face on it, An Afternoon Nap isn't particularly good for APPLe. His ultimate is AoE and he doesn't even have very high Critical Rate, so the Critical DMG isn't very relevant.
