Review
Character Summary

Vector is an offensive Burn support unit, used exclusively alongside other Burn damage dealers as a specialized damage amplifier. Vector does this by empowering teammates with buffs, and crippling enemies with potent debuffs. Notably, these include:

  • Burn DMG support attack increase: Vector has an interesting passive buff that adds +1 (+2, at V1) to the maximum number of Burn DMG support attacks (Action Support, Wise Support) for all applicable characters. This drastically increases the damage ceiling by opening up what is effectively a whole new multiplicative buff category for her teammates to leverage.

  • Burn weakness: Incinerated tiles applies Burn weakness to affected enemies, a multiplicative 10% overall damage increase that greatly boosts damage by virtue of being multiplicative against all other buff categories. In effect, Vector makes every situation a Burn-favored situation.

  • Stability loss: Vector grants the team significant stability shred by way of her Stability Loss debuff and her Burn weakness debuff, applied through her Incinerated tiles mechanic. Notably, Burn weakness not only increases Burn damage taken but also adds a flat +2 Stability damage to all incoming Burn attacks.

  • Assorted team-wide +DMG% buffs: Vector’s abundance of +DMG% buffs provides a welcome boost to team-wide damage output.

Fixed Keys

Fixed Keys core to Vector’s function are:

  • 06-03 - Negative Energy Boost: Vector’s Wise Support benefits from her various passive effects, including the aforementioned Burn DMG support attack increase. Paired with burn weakness that she herself applies, Vector’s Wise Support procs improve on her stability damage, which can greatly aid in the process of grinding through enemy stability.

Fixed Keys of situational relevance that supplement Vector’s core function:

  • 04-01 - Negative Support: Cleanse is needed to bypass certain boss mechanics (e.g., Deichgraf DEF buff). Vector’s dispel, applied before her active attack, is one of the easiest buff dispels to apply to enemy targets.

Mod Key

As of writing, Vector does not have a Mod/Expansion Key. Mod/Expansion Keys have not yet been introduced to the Global server. Global is expected to receive them at a later, unknown date.

Character Function

Vector is an offensive Burn support played exclusively alongside other Burn damage dealers as a specialized damage amplifier for the element. Her kit offers little in the way of utility. Vector has great value within her niche, but her value outside of her niche as a Burn damage amplifier is relatively minimal.

Of note, Vector’s comically large 7-tile radius AOE Ultimate skill, while not the most damaging ability, deals just enough that it can one-shot most low-level enemies. This gives Vector some novel function as a “speed-clear” option in situations where Vector (and the team) is grossly overleveled for the content (e.g., event stages).

Character Synergies

Vector is most prominently featured in the Qiongjiu-Vector pairing, where Vector functions as a potent damage amplifier to Qiongjiu, a damage dealer designed around the support attack mechanic. To briefly detail the interaction:

  • Qiongjiu’s Mod Key changes her Action Support damage type from Physical damage to Burn damage.

  • Vector’s passive, Perception Block, increases the attack count of Burn damage Action Support by 1 (and at V1, 2).

  • With Qiongjiu’s Mod Key and Vector’s passive, Qiongjiu’s per turn damage potential increases to 3 (base) + 1 (Ultimate self-buff) + 1/ 2 (V0/ V1 Vector) for a staggering 5/ 6 Action Support procs per turn.

The Qiongjiu-Vector “Burn” pairing can be expanded on, culminating in complete Qiongjiu-Vector “Burn” teams. Specifically, these “Burn” teams refer to comps built around the Qiongjiu-Vector damage core and forgo a second damage pairing (e.g., Tololo-Springfield) to instead push damage through maximizing the value of Vector’s Burn buffs by using more Burn characters (i.e., Qiuhua, Sharkry with Mod Key).

While review analyses do not generally extend beyond V0/ V1 for SSRs, it is worth noting Vector’s Vector(V1)-Qiongjiu(V3) synergy. At V3, Qiongjiu’s Action Support applies Overburn, which is used to:

  • Apply Vector(V1)’s Overheat Ignition debuff to enemy targets, which comes with an additional +30% Burn DMG taken effect at V1.

  • Trigger Vector’s Wise Support (up to 2 times per turn) with an additional +1 instance at V1.

Vertebrae Breakpoints

SSR characters are typically reviewed at V0/V1 strength. However, for especially dedicated players, it is worth noting Vector’s significant dupe powerspikes are at:

  • V1: Further increases Vector’s damage potential by adding +1 to her passive for a whopping +2 to the maximum number of Burn DMG support attacks per turn. As support attacks exist outside of the damage formula, this support attack increase essentially allows characters to translate all their offensive buffs into damage without the usual grief that accompanies additive buffs (i.e., +DMG% buffs).

  • V2: Further improves on Vector’s utility as a damage amplifier with an added team-wide Blazing Assault II buff applied through her Ultimate skill. As a secondary benefit, Vector’s Ultimate skill now comes with an added team-wide debuff cleanse effect.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Team-wide (Burn DMG) support attack passive allows characters to punch through their damage ceilings by raising the limit on their support attacks.

  • Specialized elemental offensive support for Burn damage dealers.

  • Burn weakness, applied via Scorch tiles, is a whopping 10% multiplicative overall damage increase.

Cons

  • None.

Sets:

  2. Phase Strike (recommended for most players as it's a generic set)

Stat priority:

Best Weapons

Weapons are listed in priority order, but keep in mind that the Signature Weapon is not a must have - the Battle Pass Weapons or Standard Weapons will work well enough. Only Weapons available in Global are included.

  • Mourning Whisper
    Mourning Whisper
    • Vector’s signature weapon comes with a slew of team-wide +DMG% passive effects for an appreciable boost in team-wide damage output. Importantly, this weapon has far more +DMG% than can be found on other weapons with similar passives. As a point of reference, Mourning Whisper at base has more +DMG% (+20~25%) than Suomi’s signature, Unspoken Calling, at max dupes (+20%).
  • Use any other SSR Weapon.
    • SSR weapons will always outperform SR alternatives in terms of damage due to their higher base ATK and the presence of a weapon sub-stat, which SR weapons notably lack. In the absence of a more synergistic option, any SSR weapon can serve as a stat-stick substitute.
    • Support characters are valued primarily for the utility in their kits. Their personal damage output is secondary to the potency of the buffs/debuffs, so their performance is minimally affected by weapon choice.
  • Use any SR Weapon.
