Character Summary

Daiyan is a high-mobility utility damage dealer most known for her accessible, high-uptime buff dispel on S1. Her on-demand buff dispel provides crucial utility, allowing her to handle specific stage mechanics effectively. In addition to this utility, Daiyan offers significant Stability shred through her skills, helping to rapidly break through enemy Stability. Daiyan’s utility gives her the flexibility to slot comfortably into a variety of team compositions.

Fixed Keys

Fixed Keys core to Daiyan's function are:

  • 02-01 - Echoing Melody: While the impact of mobility is less tangible than raw damage output, the additional movement on top of Daiyan’s already high mobility all but guarantees fast access to map objectives (and all other positioning needs).

  • 02-03 - Unfulfilled Dreams : The additional 3 starting Confectance Index greatly improves Daiyan’s tempo by supplementing her somewhat conditional Confectance Index gain.

  • 04-03 - Serene Serenade: Additional stack generation greatly accelerates the rate at which Daiyan stacks her unique mechanic (Tuning), for all the benefits that come with the stacks. The conditional effect is so easy for Daiyan to trigger that it can be treated as a given.

Mod Key

Daiyan’s Mod Key significantly improves her performance by touching on multiple aspects of her kit. These are:

  • Innate DEF ignore: The total damage increase from Daiyan’s Mod Key is overwhelmingly attributed to her stacking DEF ignore self-buff; owing to how damage is calculated and how buffs stack, the self-buff is highly valuable relative to other offensive buffs/ debuffs.

  • Improved Tuning stack gain: Daiyan’s +2 innate stack generation offsets the trade-off that comes with casting her Ultimate. As Daiyan’s Interception proc (and to a lesser extent, her Passive +DMG% self-buffs) are contingent on having Tuning stacks, she would previously need to accumulate some Permanent Tuning stacks before being able to use her Ultimate skill without trading away damage buffs on her Interception.

  • Improved Confectance Index gain: With a less restrictive rotation, Daiyan gains significantly more flexibility with her Light Ammo (Skill 1)/ Medium Ammo (Ultimate) damage distribution, while also greatly improving the uptime on her stability damage Skill 2 self-buff.

All-in-all, Daiyan’s Mod Key provides a much-needed boost to her damage to help keep her relevant as newer characters push the damage ceiling higher and higher with every release. While Daiyan doesn’t fully match the potency of more modern kits, her Mod Key at least keeps her within current damage expectations for damage dealers.

As of writing, Daiyan’s Mod Key has not yet been introduced to the Global server. Global is expected to receive it at a later, yet undisclosed date.

Character Function

Daiyan's primary use case is boss content, where her on-demand buff dispel and high stability shred can be used to great effect. Daiyan’s buff removal can bypass annoying boss mechanics (e.g. Deichgraf DEF buffs) while simultaneously (or even just) filling the role of stability shredder to quickly grind away bosses’ stability-based damage reduction passives (e.g. Deichgraf Armored Wall II, Tumorhynchus Spreading Infection).

Beyond utility, Daiyan also contributes to the team in some capacity as a damage dealer, made possible with her Tuning mechanic, a stacking (temporary and permanent) buff that steadily increases her Crit Rate% and Crit DMG% (among other things - see Passive). Importantly, Tuning stacks trigger Daiyan’s passive Interception attack for a 150% damage multiplier per turn before accounting for her main action.

Character Synergies

Daiyan is most prominently featured in Yoohee’s “Physical” teams, where she functions as a buff-receptacle for Yoohee’s various Physical-specific damage buffs. Notably, this includes:

  • A +60% DEF Ignore buff, which is only available to Physical teams on account of its fickle conditional effect (disabled for 2 rounds on elemental damage dealt)

  • A buff that converts excess DEF%-shred (above what’s needed to offset target DEF) into +DMG%

Yoohee’s DEF Ignore buff, paired with Daiyan’s Mod Key DEF Ignore buff, allows Daiyan to fully ignore target DEF and also claw back some value for the excess returned to her as a (nominal) +DMG% buff.

Beyond her obvious synergy as a Physical damage dealer for the dedicated Physical support, Daiyan’s Interception notably triggers Qiongjiu’s Action Support. Daiyan’s consistent two procs per turn, alongside her personal damage contributions, makes Qiongjiu-Daiyan one of Qiongjiu’s better pairings.

Vertebrae Breakpoints

SSR Characters are reviewed at V0/V1. However, for those especially dedicated players, it is worth noting Daiyan’s significant dupe power spikes at:

  • V3: As Daiyan’s Mod Key grants buffs based on her Permanent Tuning stacks, increasing the Permanent Tuning cap increases those buff values. Importantly, Daiyan(V3) further increases the stacking limit by +30% DEF Ignore, for a maximum of +60% innate DEF Ignore. Additionally, Daiyan(V3) can now cast Skill 2 -> buffed Ultimate every single turn

  • V4: Daiyan's V4 offers a notable damage increase, including a +30% boost to her Interception damage multiplier and improvements to her passive values.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Highly accessible on-demand buff dispel to bypass bothersome enemy/boss mechanics.

  • Excellent mobility characteristic of the Vanguard class.

  • Despite dealing physical damage, her kit allows her to deal high stability damage on par with that of elemental damage dealers.

  • Interception can trigger support attacks.

Cons

  • Tuning stacks take time to ramp up, and even with the additional offensive stats, Daiyan’s personal damage output remains decent at best.

  • Physical damage type is inherently worse than elemental damage types as it more accurately represents an absence-of-damage-type, and thus cannot capitalize on any related systems.
