Review

Serapel is a frontline utility tank who provides a combination of self-sustain, teamwide damage absorption, and limited damage potential through her (PVP only) mapwide %HP burn. Serapel is notable in that she has 0 base EVA. This puts her in surefire range of most defender shredders, which severely affects her survivability. The issue can be somewhat alleviated with gearing (flat EVA on movement accessories) and ship selection (Gleipnir: Pod Type provides flat +350 EVA), but even then she will struggle to dodge in any meaningful capacity.

Serapel’s Alternium Reactor greatly improves her survivability by lowering the cooldowns on her Special skill and Enhanced attack self-buff uptime. Of note, as Serapel’s survivability is tied to her healing, her actual survivability can swing drastically depending on the presence of healing reduction/ reflux debuffs.

In PVE, frontline tanks with buffs/ debuffs are valued more highly than those focused solely on tanking for themselves. Serapel’s damage share mechanic struggles to find value in PVE. As a general frontline tank, Serapel struggles to distinguish herself from the pool of stronger, cheaper alternatives (e.g. Rearm Kaci, Rearm Alex).

In PVP, Serapel is considered one of the weaker options among the viable-but-not-meta frontline tanks. Serapel cannot compete with stronger alternatives, but her unique offensive utility gives her limited viability in situations where her survivability isn’t threatened (e.g. slow weeks).

Pros & Cons
Pros

- Can help to protect allies.

- HP burn damage is significant in certain matchups.

Cons

- Having 0 base EVA means that Serapel is susceptible to being surehit.

- PVP viability contingent on having her Alternium Reactor.

PVE gear

Set: Full Tank

Should run evasion accessories due to having 0 base evasion. Works well on CDR Tank set if she is not your main frontline.
