Arti Lana is a PVP-oriented backline utility support valued primarily for the Anti-Counter DMG% and (more importantly) DMG RES% buffs on her passive aura. Arti Lana also actively contributes to the team with her Ultimate skill, which applies a chunky 8s skill seal against targets hit.
Arti Lana is played exclusively for her buffs/ debuffs; her personal damage output is non-existent. In that sense, she has more in common with backline supporters than other snipers.
In PVP, Arti Lana is played primarily as a cheap sniper for operator procs (e.g. Olivie Park, Vivian Rashford). As a low cost sniper that functions primarily as a defensive support, Arti Lana represents the lowest commitment sniper that can be played to progress the operator command skill.
Arti Lana was historically played with Olivie comps for her synergy with the operator; Olivie’s operator proc, sniper-defender-supporter, can be difficult to trigger. Specifically, it is difficult to start; deploying a damage dealer sniper means committing further resources to protect it, but committing to an early sniper deployment introduces the risk of being mispositioned (i.e. camping) and killed. This creates a dilemma that Arti Lana avoids: none of the PVP-viable snipers are particularly cheap, yet committing to a disadvantaged position would be even more costly in the long run.
The pool of viable PVP operators has since expanded; the ability to play Olivie with any counter-based comp is no longer as valuable as it was before. Instead of shoehorning characters into teams with Olivie, facilitated by Arti Lana, players opted instead to shoehorn characters into teams with Sysop.
- Much appreciated Anti-Counter DMG/ DMG RES% buffs on a 100% uptime passive aura.
- Limited value as a cheap sniper proc for other operators (i.e. Vivian, Jung Dain).
- PVP relevance almost entirely dependent on the prevalence of operators that include snipers in their Command Skills.
