Overview

Yoo is an on-field dps that can deal a lot of damage from a safe distance. She has the peculiar trait of always dealing fire elemental advantage damage with her S2 and scales with defense penetration, allowing a more diverse building to make the most of your equipment. She scales very well with investment, making her a safe dps to bring in any stage for hunters with a less developed roster.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • High DPS.

  • 2nd Skill always deals Fire advantage damage.

  • lots of self buffs and great debuffs.

  • Strong even at low Investment.

  • Very good Jinwoo support even at A0.

Cons

  • Little to no mobility.

  • Every skill animation is long, easily interrupted.

  • Burst needs dupes and time to come online.

  • No great Fire support as of now.

Review

Yoo Soohyun, our latest addition to the Fire DPS lineup, brings a compelling mix of high damage output and potent debuffs, making her a valuable asset to any roster. Unlike Choi, who functions as a Switch-In DPS, Yoo excels when given ample field time to inflict substantial damage, accompanied by several unique attributes.

Her standout ability is the buff she applies, named [Spotlight], which enhances her Defense Penetration by 24% and boosts her Damage Increase stat by 24% of her Defense Penetration. This makes her particularly effective against foes with formidable Defense, such as golems. Additionally, Yoo provides a similar benefit to Jinwoo as a support, bolstering their capabilities in battles where enemies boast high Defense stats.

Another distinctive trait of Yoo's is her capacity to summon Magical Firearms, which deal 40% of her Attack power over a wide area. These firearms are summoned either through her Ultimate or Quick Time Event (QTE), and each hit from them inflicts [Magic Reaction] on the enemy, increasing the Fire damage they take by 1% per stack, stacking up to 20 times and lasting a minute. To optimize this ability, it's crucial to rotate Yoo effectively, utilizing her QTE to refresh the Firearms as needed.

Furthermore, Yoo's Skill 2 always deals damage as if she has a Fire elemental advantage, significantly enhancing her damage output in any stage. This, combined with her ranged attacks, solidifies her role as an exceptional DPS.

Upon reaching A1 advancement, Yoo unlocks even greater potential. Her Skill 2, Kill Shot, not only deals damage but also activates her Core Attack, resets the cooldown of Kill Shot, and grants her the [Madness] buff. Under [Madness], her damage increases by 30%, Kill Shot transforms into Hell Fire, and she summons her Magical Firearms upon its use. This buff lasts for 6 seconds, providing windows of tremendous DPS opportunity.

Yoo's personal weapon, Overdrive, enhances her Defense Penetration and buffs the damage of her Core Attacks, Kill Shot and Hell Fire. This synergy makes Overdrive a highly recommended investment, especially since three copies are available for free during her release event!

Regarding gear choices, Yoo benefits from several set options tailored to her DPS role. For those using 4-piece sets, combinations like Toughness or Armed on the left side with Concentration of Firepower on the right side are recommended. Alternatively, the Solid Foundation set can be viable at higher ascension levels (A3 and above) due to ascensions providing ATK% buffs making Damage% a more interesting stat. For those with access to 8-piece sets, the 8-piece Burning Curse Set is optimal. Otherwise, mixing and matching sets such as 2/8 Burning Curse, 2/4 Toughness, and 4/4 Concentration of Firepower can also maximize her effectiveness. Concentration of Firepower is particularly advantageous for Yoo, enhancing her Basic Skills' damage and reducing cooldowns, while its relative rarity ensures less competition for this beneficial gear.

Team Composition wise, Yoo synergizes well with Emma and ideally pairs with either Meilin or Min in the third slot. For a more aggressive approach, Choi can be included, leveraging his Defense Reduction and Burning effects, though this setup requires manual play due to susceptibility to damage without dedicated Support.

Should you pull?

Yoo boasts formidable damage capabilities, consistently benefiting from elemental advantage regardless of content type. This makes her a reliable choice for players aiming high in Power of Destruction leaderboards, especially in elements lacking strong DPS characters. Her inclusion in the Core Attack gang ensures synergies with sets like Solid Foundation and Tusk, further boosting her numbers in combat scenarios.

In future, Yoo shows promise in Guild content and future updates such as the Workshop of Brilliant Light floors and new Instance Dungeons if you lack an invested Choi. Additionally players may find that both Choi and Yoo can complement each other effectively due to Choi requiring little in field time to deal majority of his damage.

However, it's important to note that as of now, there isn't specific content that necessitates Yoo's presence. The most challenging PvE content favors Water hunters, potentially limiting her immediate utility for F2P players focused on optimal performance in those areas. Furthermore, players with Invested Choi might not be interested in rolling her as a sidegrade Fire DPS and with upcoming debut of Hunter Festival in August, there is merit to consider in saving for it instead as well.

Yoo is an on-field DPS that can deal a lot of damage from a safe distance. She scales very well with investment, making her a safe DPS to bring in any stage for Hunters with a less developed roster.

Investment
  • For F2P players, aiming for at least A1 ascension is recommended. This upgrade significantly enhances her damage output and ensures relevance over time without requiring extensive resources, as at A0 investment, she will be primarily a support for Jinwoo with lackluster personal DPS.

  • Dolphins may find A1 to A3 ascensions beneficial, with A3 providing a notable 24% boost to Aattack, particularly enhancing Yoo's Firearm damage.

  • Whales might consider pushing to A5, where Yoo becomes one of the game's top DPS units, being able to get up to 80% extra damage on Kill Shot and Hell fire.
