Review

Jinchul has long been a jack of all trades, struggling to find a foothold in the meta. However, recent balance patches and the addition of Mirei have finally brought his talents to the forefront, earning him the recognition he deserves among the player base.

Firstly, Jinchul's Basic Attack now inflicts light Break damage, enhancing his utility in combat. His Core Attack has been significantly improved, now inflicting [Stun] on the enemy with a 20-second cooldown. Additionally, while executing the Core Attack, Jinchul gains [Super Armor], ensuring his attacks remain uninterrupted.

Jinchul's first skill, Mediation of Power, inflicts small Break damage, reduces the cooldown of his second skill by three seconds, and grants the team a Shield based on 2% of Jinchul's defense for 20 seconds. This effect can stack up to three times, allowing Jinchul to quickly bolster his team’s defenses by casting the skill two to three times in rapid succession. His second skill, Iron Fist, deals medium Break damage and recovers one usage of Dash after being used. Both skills provide Jinchul with [Super Armor], solidifying his role in maintaining relentless damage combos.

While the rest of Jinchul's kit lacks special effects at A0, his support skill is noteworthy. When activated, it increases the number of available Dashes by two for 20 seconds. This extra mobility is invaluable, despite the general preference for more offensive supports.

Jinchul’s ascensions significantly enhance his abilities. At A0, Dashing grants him a 30% damage boost when using his Core Attack or Skills, while reducing his Dash cooldown by one second. At A1, Mediation of Power grants additional damage and Break Potency, along with an extra charge of the skill, allowing for rapid stacking of his shield. This makes Jinchul one of the fastest Breakers for maxing the Burning Greed set. At A3, whenever Jinchul Dashes, uses Extreme Evasion, or activates his QTE (Judgment), he reduces the cooldown of his skills by two seconds and activates his Core Attack. Using Judgment also triggers his A0 Passive without Dashing and grants a 35% damage increase for seven seconds instead of six. At A5, using his Basic Attack four times activates his A3 passive, reducing the cooldown of his skills and activating his Core Attack. Furthermore, using Skill 1 increases his defense by 5%, stacking up to 12 times, which significantly boosts his Shield and his personal damage.

Jinchul's weapon, Another Level, has undergone significant changes, transforming from a mediocre option to a powerful tool in his arsenal. This weapon allows Jinchul to ignore a portion of the target's defense while enhancing the damage of his Skill 1 for five seconds, with the effect stacking up to three times. The most notable improvement is the new effect that increases the Wind damage of other team members permanently after inflicting Break on the enemy. This boost starts at 4% at A0 and reaches up to 12% extra Wind damage at A5.

Given that the majority of this bonus is gained from A4 to A5, it is advisable not to invest heavily in Jinchul's weapon until the weapons of your primary DPS hunters are maxed out. However, once that's accomplished, investing in this weapon can be highly beneficial for enhancing your Wind party's power, especially if a great support character to complement Jinchul and Mirei becomes available. Currently, Park Heejin is the best third wind character to run with Jinchul and Mirei, being the only dedicated Wind Supporter.

In terms of gear, it is difficult to recommend anything other than the Burning Greed set for Jinchul. Alternatively, you can equip him with Solid Analysis and Outstanding Connection to further amplify Mirei's damage output.

Should You Pulll?

If you had asked this question a week ago before Mirei release, the response would have been skeptical at best. However, Jinchul has now become a solid investment. The introduction of hard mode for the Workshop of Brilliant Light has brought wind weakness into the spotlight, making Jinchul and Mirei a formidable duo for tackling Floor 25. While most of Jinchul's utility is accessible at A1, it is important to note that in the current endgame, breakers also need to deal damage. Therefore, investing in his duplicates can significantly increase his personal damage.

Investment
  • For F2P players, A1 is more than sufficient, granting Jinchul an extra usage of Mediation to Shield your party and further reducing the cooldown of his Skill 2.

  • For Dolphins, A3 is an excellent middle ground, as it accelerates the cycling of his skills.

  • For Whales, A5 is the ideal investment, providing Jinchul with up to a 60% defense buff when using Mediation , resulting in more damage and stronger Shields. At this point, maxing out his weapon to A5 is also recommended to offer greater support to Mirei, especially considering the lack of a dedicated Wind buffer for her at this time. Park Heejin primarily buffs Ultimate damage and power gain, so any additional support from Jinchul is invaluable.
