Shimizu Akari Passive

The [Truth-seeker of Divine Flame] effect is activated at the start of battle. When the user uses Light of Dawn Devastate turns into Heavy Attack: Devastate, increasing the user's damage by 100%. When the user is hit while using Dash, it activates Extreme Evasion, deals damage to nearby enemies, and inflicts the [Stun] effect.

  • When Light of Dawn or Heavy Attack: Devastate hit they inflict the [Divine Flame] effect on the target 1 time.

Overview

Akari is a Light support that specializes in buffing shield related hunters. While she can provide good results, the return on investment is very little, as other hunters can provide similar results with a much better overall usability.

Review

Our first Jeju Island themed hunter, Akari joins the game as a shield focused healer that can heal you for a price, and shield you, and in theory buff you, but that remains to be seen.

Her Basic Attack and Core Attacks are pretty basic, with her Core Attack sending the enemy [Airborne].

Her Skill 1, Devastate, [Knocks down] the target and her Skill 2, Light of Dawn, sends the enemy [Airborne] and applies the [Holy Fire] effect to the Light team members. When [Holy Fire] is in effect, the user regenerates power every second for 24 seconds, and gains a shield equal to 2% of Akari's Max HP. This shield stacks up to 15 times and lasts for an infinite duration, making it very easy to keep the Guardian set active at all times.

Her QTE skill is actually important, as it inflicts a debuff on the enemy named [Divine Light], that increases the Light Damage taken by the target by 1%, stacking up to 24 times.

Finally, her Ultimate, Ring of Fire, activates the [Ring of Fire] effect and grants the [Brilliance] effect to Light team members.

The [Ring of fire] debuff increases the Light damage taken by 12% but removes all instances of [Divine Light] on the enemy. When the debuff ends, the target gets 5 stacks of [Divine Light], allowing for cycling the two debuffs. Meanwhile, [Brilliance] is a buff that increases the damage dealt by 8% and Critical Rate of the user's Basic Skill and Ultimate by 8%. This skill also heals 8% of Akari's max HP.

The [Brilliance] buff is also provided by Akari's Support Skill, making her a relatively useful support if you want to increase your Critical Rate.

Akari's Passive at A0 provides the [Truth-Seeker of Divine Flame], which allows her to power up her Skill 1 after using her Skill 2 for extra damage. When she uses her Skill 2 or her enhanced Skill 1 she also inflicts a stack of [Divine Flame], allowing her to ramp up the damage the enemy receives from light attacks. If Akari is hit while Dashing, it will turn into Extreme Evasion and Stun the enemy for 2 turns.

Advancement Info
  • At A1 the [Truth-seeker of divine flame] buff is enhanced, inflicting two stacks of [Divine Flame] when using her Skill 2 or enhanced Skill 1. When a Light ally hits the enemy, they also receive the [Holy fire] buff, which decreases the damage taken and also regenerates power.

  • At A2, Akari increases her max HP by 5% while also buffing the shield gained by Light allies by 5%.

  • At A3, her [Divine Flame] and [Ring of fire] debuffs both get an upgrade: [Divine Flame] now increases the damage taken by 1.6% per stack (up to 10 stacks) and turns into [Ring of Fire] at max stacks. [Ring of fire] now increases the light damage taken by 20% instead.

  • At A4, she increases the damage dealt by Light hunters by 3% for every Light hunter in the team while also buffing the defense of the team member with the highest def value by 3%. Not much, but everything helps.

  • At A5 the [Brilliance] buff is enhanced, granting 16% damage increase, Critical Rate for Skills and Ultimates. The healing is also increased to 16% of her max HP.

Weapons & Gear 

Akari's weapon, The Price of a Promise, is unfortunately a bit mediocre. It buffs her max HP (improving her healing and shielding abilities) and increases the Light damage of the hunters in the team when [Echo of Light] is in effect.

While this buffs a bit the damage of your team, it's very important to note that compared to other support weapons like Meilin's, she is hard focused on Light allies, making this weapon less useful for a progressing player that doesn't have many supports built at all.

As for her gear, since she focuses a lot on shields, you can use the Guardian set on the left side and the Sylph's set on the right side. The Burning Blessing set also works, provided you are running the 8/8 set, as the 4/8 set doesn't have a good uptime on the buff compared to how easy she can apply shields to proc the Guardian set.

When building Akari you pretty much want to focus on HP. Other stats may include MP Recovery and healing increase.

Team mates:

Akari as of now only has one team: the Light team with Thomas Andre and Go Gunhee. Considering she mostly focuses on shields and even buffs defense, she is of no value to Cha, who prefers being accompanied by Min. This is also one of Akari's main weaknesses: for being a dedicated Light shield support, her performance is comparable to older and more generic supports like Min and Meilin.

Should you pull?

As of now, it's hard to suggest rolling for her.

While she does provide a damage increase compared to Meilin and Min, this comes at the cost of a lot of summons and the increase is really just for Guild Boss. Part of the increase also comes in merit of being a Light hunter, so you can get the full benefit of 'We are One' and Gunhee's [Will of Brilliant Light] buff, meaning Min can technically replace her.

It is possible that she may not be working as intended or ended up drastically undertuned, so while there is a possibility that she will be buffed in the near future, it's best for F2P and Dolphins to take it as a chance to recover their tickets and gems and potentially pick her up at a later time. The only notable thing is the addition of the Rate up Loyalty event, netting you a Legendary Skill Rune (random) for doing 300 rolls on her pick-up.

For whales, she can provide a small increase in damage compared to using Meilin with Thomas and Gunhee - this could potentially open up some interesting team comps by freeing Meilin for a different team. However, you would benefit much more from investing in Thomas Andre beyond A5 if you are looking to increase your Guild Boss score and overall account power.

You can compare her to Han Se-mi as she is a dedicated Mirei support: however, while Han Se-mi elevates Mirei to one of the strongest damage dealers in the game you might not even notice the improvement Akari brings to the table, especially when compared to supports who aren't even created to support the Light team (like Meilin or Ilsa).

Best Weapons

For SSR characters, you always want to use their Signature/EX Weapon - they are simply the best for them. Until you obtain the signature weapon, just use the options listed below. The priority is set from left to right. Also, If you have a Signature/EX weapon for a Hunter that is not in your team you can consider using it for the raw stats alone - as long as it matches the character.
