Overview

Seorin is a new addition to the Water team that drives through troubled waters. While her damage and support abilities are nice, they are mostly catered to future units, making it an egg today vs hen tomorrow situation.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Powerful Breaker

  • Good support unit that’s not entirely locked to Water Teams.

  • Great animations.

Cons

  • Awkward release timing.

  • Doesn't work with current best Water DPS.

  • Needs good gear to mitigate MP consumption.

Review

Seorin is our newest Water Breaker added to SLA right before the Anniversary, breaking the ice for what is gonna be a super heated period for SLA players. Let's discover together how her kit works and her breakpoints!

Her Basic Attack, Ice Blitz, deals small Break damage to the enemy. Her Core Attack, Ice Shard Magnum, also inflicts weak Break damage while also granting Seorin [Super Armor] during the duration of the attack.

Moving to her basic skills, her skill 1, Frozen Spin, and skill 2, Solar Surge, both deal medium Break damage while granting [Super Armor] to Seorin. Just like Kanae’s skill 1, Frozen Spin can trigger Extreme Evasion if hit mid-rotation.

Her QTE, Glacier Spin, deals small Break while granting [Super Armor] and lastly, her Ultimate, Frost Chaser, deals almighty Break damage to the enemy. Her support skill for SJW is pretty useful, granting him 3 seconds of extra Break time while also giving him 30% extra damage for 20 seconds. It also pairs extremely well with Pulverise!

Ascensions and passives
  • Seorin's A0 passive increases the duration of the [Break] status by 3 seconds whenever she or her allies break the target. Whenever she uses her Core Attack, Skill 1, 2 or QTE she activates the [Pinpoint Missiles] effect, which causes Seorin to launch 2 missiles when using her Core Attack, Skill 1 or Skill 2. If she uses her Ultimate, it will cause her to fire 4 missiles instead that deal weak Break damage. Enemies hit by the missile receive the [Subzero] status, increasing the target's Water damage taken by 1% per stack, up to 10 stacks for 30 seconds.

  • A1: Whenever Seorin uses her Skill 1 she now launches 4 missiles. She also grants to herself the [Overtake] buff for 15/30 seconds. Additionally, she gains the [Limited Break] status when breaking an enemy, resetting her skills cooldown and filling her Power and Core Gauges in the process. [Overtake] increases the Break effectiveness by 50% but reduces the damage Seorin deals by 30% for 15 seconds. The duration is doubled in the [Workshop of Brilliant Light] and she loses this buff when gaining the [Limited Break] buff. [Limited Break] decreases the Break effectiveness by 50% and buffs the damage dealt and the damage of missiles by 30% instead. She also increases her Critical Damage by 30%. When the effect expires (120 seconds) she gains the [Overtake] buff. Essentially, you can see these buffs as Seorin shifting gears, giving her more damage once her breaking job is over. Be careful when planning your burst damage!

  • A2 simply gives Seorin 2 more missiles on her Core Attack and Skill 2, thus giving her 4 missiles on every skill casted.

  • A3 adds an infinite buff to the team called [Black Tea?] that grants the team 20% Defense, 20% HP and 1.5% MP recovery every 5 seconds. This is not locked by element and adds a very useful buff to the rest of the team, since it's much harder to buff HP and Defense compared to Attack.

  • A4 is more supporting power but only for Water allies: for every Water ally in the team your Water element members gain 10% damage increase, up to 3 stacks.

  • Lastly, her A5 massively increases her damage potential: her missiles now have 100% increase for their Critical Hit Rate, their Critical Damage is boosted by 30% and she also improves her [Subzero] and [Limited Break] effects. [Subzero] now increases the Water damage received by 2% per stack, doubling its power. Meanwhile, [Limited Break] bumps the value of missile damage, Damage Dealt and Critical Damage up to 50%, making Seorin hit much harder.

Weapon and Gear

Seorin's weapon, Melody of Iron and Blood, is very simple: it increases her HP% and improves the damage of her missile. The weapon doesn't improve her breaking capabilities by a lot, but does improve her DPS potential significantly.

Gear wise, Seorin has quite a few options:

  • You can run her on the evergreen Greed set;

  • You can run her on the new Chaotic Desire;

  • You can mix the Chaotic Infamy set on the left side and the Destructive Instinct set on the right side.

Option 1 is great for teams that need more Critical stability, in case they don't have many self buffs in their kits.

Option 2 is great when the team is not lacking Critical Damage buffs, since it has a higher damage sealing.

Option 3 is for a more offensive version of Seorin if you just want to deal more damage. The Obsidian set also works here.

Cores

It's important to mention that Seorin consumes a lot of mana. Having the 'Teeth of the Watcher' core on her third Core slot and at least one MP Consumption Reduction line in her artifacts is gonna help her mitigate this issue significantly. For the other slots, Nameless/Watcher for Attack slots are the best even if fairly average, and Ancient Wraith edges out the competition for Defense.

For stats: HP, Crit Rate, Crit Damage, and Damage increase are the go-to. MP Consumption reduction and Def Pen (depending on content) are also good to look for, but don't go all in on those.

Crit Rate loses some value at A5.

Team section

Seorin is currently a unit with a clear purpose: support Water teams that rely on HP and Defense and Break enemies as fast as possible, while also dealing good damage. The fact she's not buffing Attack and Core damage means Seorin is not a good teammate for Alicia when it comes to general usage. She can - and will - replace Seo in the premium Water team, but it's clear Netmarble is cooking a new Water DPS to replace Alicia. This is Esil and Kanae all over again!

Surprisingly, Seorin and Seo actually work decently together, especially as a team in the Guild Boss. Considering Seorin can deal good damage while helping with the Break bars and the new artifact sets can really help Breakers ramp up their damage it's not surprising to see potential 'dual Breaker' setups, especially considering you can even pair the two with Anna Ruiz for a powerful Defense Down effect in Guild Boss.

We expect her best teams to change very soon as we get in the 1st Anniversary and see the new unit(s) that will be introduced.

Should you roll for Seorin?

To keep it short, it's Kanae and Esil all over again, or rather: would you rather get the egg today or the hen tomorrow? Seorin is a super powerful upgrade to Seo and a strong addition to the Guild Boss teams - especially with the recent changes - but we are already smelling the Anniversary in the air. It's very likely that the new units added to the game will shake up the meta and potentially the DPS charts, so it's important to figure out where to allocate your resources, even more if you are a F2P.

  • For F2P players, A1 is a good stopping point for Seorin since it grants her two unique buffs that really ramp up her playstyle;

  • For Dolphins, A3 and even A4 are great stopping points, since she unlocks big support capabilities at these stages;

  • For Whales, A5 is a significant improvement in personal damage and will help to achieve higher rage counts with the new Guild Boss scoring thresholds and team setups.

Best Weapons

For SSR characters, you always want to use their Signature/EX Weapon - they are simply the best for them. Until you obtain the signature weapon, just use the options listed below. The priority is set from left to right. Also, If you have a Signature/EX weapon for a Hunter that is not in your team you can consider using it for the raw stats alone - as long as it matches the character.
