Review
Lim is an often overlooked hunter, but his potential as a Dark Breaker is remarkable. His specialization in burst damage allows him to deliver devastating attacks in a short amount of time.
Unique playstyle with good skill cap.
Doesn't need high investment for Breaking.
Struggles against mobile bosses.
Mostly a boss Specialist.
DPS potential locked behind high investment.
Lim is a dark ranged breaker that requires proper positioning to utilize the most out of his kit.
His basic attack unloads a barrage of hits at the enemy with a small back flip at the end of his attack animation and his core attack inflicts small break damage. His skill 1, Shoot and Maneuver, lets Lim slide ahead and inflict small break damage. After using this skill, Lim will activate his core attack for more break damage. This skill can be used up to 2 times, making it great for mixing offense and defense to get out of an incoming aoe or to setup his second skill, Typhoon Fire. When using this skill, Lim will be 'locked' in firing position for a few seconds, unleashing a powerful heavy break on the enemy. Make sure to cast this skill when you are in a safe place, since it's Lim's most powerful breaking tool.
His support skill inflicts medium Break damage and grants SJW and his allies a 15% Core Attack damage buff for 15 seconds. This buff is particularly useful when paired with Core Attack-reliant weapons like Phoenix Soul. Lim's Ultimate changes his basic attack as he enters [Sniping Mode]: when in this mode, he will load 8 projectiles and he can fire them for 10 seconds. The damage on each projectile is QUITE high, so make sure to hit your target! Last - but not least - his QTE inflicts small break on the enemy and is tied to Lim's passive: after using the QTE he will obtain the [Magic Boost] buff, attacking the enemy with 3 magic arrows after his QTE hits while also unleashing 2 magic arrows with his basic Attacks. Magic arrows inflict damage based on 60% of Lim's attack and while under this buff he increases the damage of his core attack and skill 1/2 by 15%.
Lim's ascensions significantly enhance his abilities. At A1, he increases his Skill Speed and damage by 25% when using Shoot and Maneuver and gains an extra usage of the skill, for a total of three uses. A2 is particularly significant, providing a much-needed 20% increase in Break Effectiveness. At A3, the [Magic Boost] buff increases to 30%, and Lim can now activate it with Shoot and Maneuver, reducing his reliance on his QTE. His A5 focuses on increasing his personal DPS, granting Lim a permanent 4% attack buff when using his Core Attack, stacking up to seven times.
Lim's weapon, Intercept, increases his dark damage and grants him 6% extra attack when using his basic attack within 10% seconds after using his ultimate. Simple but powerful, further advancements increase the number of times this atk buff stacks - up to 8 times, like the max number of hits at A5. His weapons adds a lot of personal damage but doesn't increase his power as a breaker - because of this, his weapon isn't a priority to craft, considering the powerful SR options like Steel Dagger or Steel Bow.
Setwise, Lim obviously benefits from Burning Greed as he can quickly chain his skill 1 to core attacks to rack up stacks. Solid analysis is a very strong alternative considering his low break potencies and he can make great use of the recently added Sylph's blessing, granting everyone on the team more weakness damage dealt. Otherwise, if you want to focus on his personal damage you can use more offensive right side sets.
Lim is a powerful dark breaker and that alones makes him worth to grab even at one copy, considering he doesn't need his personal weapon to function.
That being said, Hwang Dongsuk can be used as a replacement until you get him and dark hunters are currently in a difficult spot, meaning you might want to invest in other elements first.
For F2P players, achieving A1 is generally sufficient, as it grants Lim an extra cast of his Skill 1 and increases skill speed. A2 is also a viable option due to the significant boost in break potencies.
For Dolphins, A3 is the optimal choice, enhancing Lim's personal damage and providing a means to refresh his [Magic Boost] buff.
For Whales, reaching A5 provides Lim with a respectable attack bonus, which, when combined with the stacking attack bonus from his personal weapon, can significantly boost his overall damage potential. Given the current lackluster main DPS options in the dark element (notably SM Baek), the extra damage from Lim may prove invaluable for securing a better position in BoT/PoD during dark advantage days.
