Type: Damage - AOE
Performs a sweeping slash around the nearest enemy, dealing damage equal to 250% of ATK within a 4m radius. If the target is a "Ringleader," "Minion," or "Evil Soul," the damage is multiplied by 2.5.

Cosmic Upheaval

Swings down her blade charged withpowerful energy toward the nearest enemy, dealing damage equal to 150% of ATK within a 2m wide and 9m long area. Then, causes a collapse at the far end, dealing double the damage to all enemies within a 3m radius. This damage stacks and silences the hit enemy for 5 sec.
Damage changes to 160%.

Infernal Blade of the Nether
Type: Damage - Single
Swings her blade charged with the energy of infernal blaze toward the nearest enemy, dealing damage equal to 160% of ATK and inflicting Burn, which deals DoT equal to 60% of ATK every 2 sec for 12 sec, within a 2m wide and 11m long area.
The lingering fire grants her "Infernal Blade" for 8 sec, during which the effectiveness of her normal attack and "Fiery Slash" is increased by 50% when dealing damage, increasing further based on the number of Burn stacks on the target (up to 200%).
Damage changes to 175%, Burn DoT changes to 65%.
Damage changes to 190%, Burn DoT changes to 70% and "Infernal Blade" duration changes to 12 sec.
Fiery Slash
Type: Debuff
Slashes through the air while targeting the nearest enemy, dealing damage equal to 140% of ATK to the target and enemies within 2.5m of the target and decreasing their Physical Resistance by 15% for 15 sec.

We have reworked our tier list owing to multiple meta shifts and how we rate characters. As such some of the reviews (especially of older characters) might not match the tier list ratings. Please prioritize the ratings given over provided Review. We will be working on updating all reviews, but it is a time-consuming endeavor.
Sakuyo (Inferno) is the 14th Beast Soul and the first Variant Soul (forms of existing characters) released in December 2024. She is a DEX Ranger who primarily functions as a DPS-cum-Buffer. Let's take a look at her skills first:
Main - Cosmic Upheaval : An AoE damage skill that inflicts Silence and decreases enemy attack.
Ultimate - Termination - Eradication: An AoE damage skill that deals additional damage to "Ringleader," "Minion," and "Evil Soul" targets.
Sub 1 - Infernal Blade of the Nether : Another AoE damage skill from Sakuyo, but in addition it inflicts Burn (DoT) to enemies and grants herself “Infernal Blade” which increases the damage done by her Normal Attacks and Sub 2 - Fiery Slash (scaling with Burn count on target) for 12 seconds.
Sub 2 - Fiery Slash : Yet another AoE damage skill, but this time she decreases Physical Resistance by 20% for 15 seconds for enemies hit.
Passive - Commanding the World : A conditional Passive - If Sakuyo has highest Attack, she gains 30% Crit Rate and Increased Damage dealt, however if she is lower, she gains 30% Damage Reduction instead.
Artifact - Yoshimoto Samonji (Infernal Blaze): Similar to her Passive - If Sakuyo has highest Attack, the whole team gains 4-10% Damage Reduction, however if she is lower, team gains 8-20% Increased Damage dealt instead. Furthermore, if she is placed in the back-row, her own attack increases by 15-30%.
Our first variant soul, Sakuyo (Inferno) is an AoE DPS that provides utility to the team in addition through her various buffs and debuffs. Her Passive + Artifact can provide her with up to 30% Crit Rate 30% Increased Damage dealt and teamwide 10% damage reduction or up to 30% Self Damage Reduction and 20% Teamwide Increased Damage dealt, depending on if she is the highest attack or not, opening up flexibility in compositions.
Almost all her skills feature AoE damage in varying ranges thus allowing her to comfortably snuggle in the general PvE meta. Whereas in Raids/ESS, she offers good utility thanks to enemy Attack down, Physical Resistance decrease and her Artifacts increased damage dealt/damage reduction for the team and her own damage is no slouch either if ran as main DPS, since her Ultimate gains additional damage in the same.
However, Sakuyo (Inferno) suffers the same problems as some of her predecessors did, that is, being too squishy. This leads to untimely demise in PvE situations more often than not, and with Guild Raids ramping up the damage in S2, it might pose a challenge to keep her alive in extremely high damage comps.
Culture: Definitely a must have. (You should totally Origin her for that Bond Skin unlocked at Origin Ascension.)
New / F2P / Casual Players: Sakuyo offers decent utility in both PvE and Raids for those lacking a general use Soul and her Buff/Debuffs could be viable long-term in Guild Raid content. If investing, aim for at least 4 copies so she can be raised to Eternal + to compensate for her squishiness somewhat.
Dolphins / Competitive Raid Players / Whales / Rankers: She will most likely dominate Guild Raid Gaia with her Burn mechanics and overall hard hitting skills, however it is hard to judge her performance in other Guild Raids at the moment with Practice Room locked and skill changes of upcoming bosses unknown. While she certainly won’t be a bad investment, it's hard to say if she will be top of class meta without testing. Origin would be a good stopping point at the moment, otherwise you can wait for Guild Raid Gaia to run and potential practice room unlock before jumping the gun.
Being the squishy soul she is, Sakuyo (Inferno) ideally would want souls such as Eve, Daphne, Catherine (Radiance), Lute etc to facilitate her survival, thankfully these are rather commonly used options, so nothing special to invest in. She also possesses a synergy with Burn units via her Sub 1 which Catherine (Radiance) pairs nicely with, killing 2 birds at once.
Sakuyo (Inferno) as things stand is treading on a thin line between Meta and Average depending on her performance in upcoming Guild Raids, something we can’t judge at the moment due to drastic changes in meta Guild Raid S2 is bringing and lock down of Practice Rooms. In testing done for Dark Knight raid, while she performed decently as main DPS, she did not shine much when paired with other hard hitters in multiple DPS teams. For Guild Raid Gaia, we are expecting her to do great due to Burn mechanics and added Boss Resistance/Weakness mechanics in S2, which makes Gaia even more susceptible to Burn damage than ever. In PvE however, her damage is considerably high but suffers from the problem of dying quickly if not properly protected as mentioned earlier.
As such, we will not be rating her in Guild Raid Charite, Rudra and Pluto for the moment, however if Practice Room opens up before her banner ends, we will revisit her review and ratings for the same. Another thing to keep in mind is that Sakuyo (Inferno) is the final banner of Q4 2024, thus there will be a livestream in last week of her banner to reveal the Q1 2025 schedule and with Anniversary in January, you might prefer saving until the livestream to see what's coming next!
